If the idea is to get potential suicides to talk things through - why isn't the story depicting that with a positive conclusion?
Because it will show the impact it has on those around him.
The "moral" of the story is that suicide is not the answer.

Very sad scenes between Eva and Aidan. But how did he figure out that she wasn't really in America? And how did he know to search Toyah's bag for clues? And how on earth did he then put two and two together and realise "Oh Eva has given the baby to Toyah to raise as her own, because the surrogate she and Peter were to use miscarried weeks ago" etc.....

    A spoiler says
Summer gets an idea to start an online help group for depression/suicide

    Add that to
    David speaking about his ordeal
it's a sign that they have put consideration into the post suicide story lines.

As for Eva's bump, it is totally normal for any woman who's just given birth to have a bump for some time afterwards.

I know that but anything and everything you see on screen is there because the writer or director wanted it there. So was Eva's bump a salute to all the women who aren't beach body ready 3 days after giving birth or was it intended to make the whole baby thing more ambiguous? I suspect the latter. And if it is the latter it doesn't for me sit well with the main subject of Aiden's suicide.

Ive lost 2 friends to suicide. And have been in very dark places myself, and I'll say again the acting was superb but I think theyve fumbled this whole thing.

I don't think it was a "salute" moreso an effort to look realistic and in keeping with the fact she's still in hiding having just given birth.

She’s already saved the factory thousands on a basic maths mistake & now setting up a helpline - plus has cared for a drug addict and a depressed step foster grandmother or whatever I’d call Eileen! Thank goodness there isn’t a phone box on the street or she’d fly out of it wearing a cape nd superhero outfit

Ah God. I really wish they'd kept it quiet. It would have been so powerful if we all found out tonight.

Aye, but their site says otherwise. The horror of inadvertently watching Poxposé :pac:

Jeez this is heartbreaking. The range of different reactions. The shock of it. I'm a survivor of suicide attempts, so know it well from that angle, but can only begin to imagine what it's like from this side. Awful :(

I think it would have been more powerful yes, but they have a responsibility to viewers, and it was important for that reason that people knew to expect this in advance.

    Yep :(

So glad to finally see David opening up though.

Also, glad to see Gina set folk straight on what suicide is about, how people do it cos they're desperate, not selfish, but every single person's reaction is understandable. Amazing acting, and I actually found Kate's particularly heartbreaking, her not wanting to believe it, her anger at Carla for saying it, the shock and not wanting to believe it was suicide, not able to take it in.

Really? A responsibility for what? It would have been such an impact.

For people who might have gone through it recently so they aree not just sitting down waiting for a dose of escapism and then be dumped on them. Or other who may have there kids around. Not everyone is like you and kind just cope with it.

Even I who do not watch soaps went to watch it just to see how they were going to handle it was hit hard because I have known people who have committed suicide
