so...the mac mini I purchased last year seems to be having severe conniptions

I had to re-install the OS as it told me my machine was not valid..

and it keeps shutting down, my account was corrupt, photos keeps crashing (but i think that was my corrupt account)

Is there any point in buying iMac now ? is there a new one on the way ?

    Will it make a difference...nice prices at the moment...and I have a €500 voucher...

Not sure about most of your "account corrupt" and "machine not valid" issues there, seeing as MacOS is free these days. Mac Minis are pretty reliable, did you call Apple tech support about it?
