She sounds awful. I am glad you called her on it. I have had people take advantage of me and not said anything in the past. Your way is so much better because now you won't be playing it over and over in your mind.

    She is no friend.

I think that line "this is so stupud" tells you she wants to shut the conversation down, and make you feel that YOU are the stupid one for bringing it up. She knows exactly what you mean.
Playing dumb has gained her €28 and a reputation as a lousy person.

You did the right thing calling her on it by the way.

Ok I am just reading all of this....so not only did she buy this ticket for you for your birthday as a gift.....and got you to pay for it.....she then sold it....absolutely bizarre behaviour

Thank you everyone for being really helpful!

I told my friend that I live with about what happened and she agreed with what everyone said here that it is unfair and the money is mine so I sent X a message and this is basically what happened (I can only laugh now but was p****d off at the time)

Me: hey didn't get chance to message you during the week, heard you sold the ticket in Dublin! I'll get that 30 off you whenever I see you next week!!

    X: What?

Me: The 30 for my ticket

X: I bought the ticket haha it was mine

Me: And I paid you for it/bought it off you

X: You paid me because I bought it for you and you ended up not going??

Me: Yeah and after I paid you for it it became my ticket.

X: No it wasn't you didn't go, this is so stupid.

and a bit more back and forth with her getting a bit annoyed and eventually not replying to me, but basically I will never see the money. I agree twenty eight euro is small price to pay for knowing what she's like, and everyone else who knows the story is unimpressed too

Either she doesn't understand basic maths or is lying through her teeth. I'd text her saying exactly that and ask if its worth losing your friendship over it.

So if someone gives me a €100 pair of shoes as a present and they don't fit, I have to give the person €100 and then the person can go back to the shoe shop and return them?

    This boggles the mind

Maybe she is genuinely thick as sh/t?!

I don’t think she’s that stupid, that she cant figure out the sums. I do think she’s that horrible though, that she’s trying to fleece you.

Please do cut this person out of your life. She’s not a friend. She’s a user.

Your friend sounds a bit simple.

She straight up owes you money. She sold something that was your property.

You've done well learning what she's like for €30, it's often priceless to be rid of these toxic clowns.

Think the icing on the cake here would be to text her a link to this page so she can see what a massive BLANK she is, when even people who don't know her can all unanimously agree.

So she made money off you to celebrate your birthday.

She charged you €28 to inform you that she should be avoided at all cost. That’s actually good value. I was once charged €250 for the info.

My advice, steer clear, do not waste another word on her. I have a feeling she won’t come near you again, but it would be a mistake to even acknowledge her.

If you need to explain, it means she won’t understand.

Great advice. It's like what Sonny says to C in A Bronx Tale.

OP, I just couldn't be friends with a person that tight. Charging for the postal fee is just the cherry on top.

Well done for standing up for yourself op. She's shown her true colours and now everyone can see them.

She hounds you over 30 smelly quid tight miserable bitch (who's a friend not like you met on Adverts or Gumtree) then sells the ticket and makes 30 Euro profit to a gig you didn't even attend. Some people have no shame.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 17,739 ✭✭✭✭kylith

    She got a ticket
Then she sold you the ticket for €30
Then she sold YOUR ticket for another €30

Tell her to pony up what she owes you or you'll make sure everyone knows she's a thieving, scabby cow.

****ing scumbag, even if I was one of your friends not involved in this I'd be cutting contact with such a scabby loser. Ruining a friendship over 30 quid, is she actually so stupid? Her logic is ridiculous. Definitely send her a link to this thread because she needs to realise that she's wrong or she'll do similar to more people in life

OP, your "friend" X is little more than a leeching pest. This is borne out from replies from other posters on this thread from those who joined in the early 'naughties to new joins who registered in March this year..

Shun X and shut them out of your life.

As someone else said earlier you have discovered what this person is truly like for very little money. Cut them from your life, if you share any friends warn them. If that ticket was truly a present she should have handed you the thirty quid she made and she should have never asked you for money. The girl is either too dense to have as a friend or a parasite.
