The name after Clyduff looks like Mary Shaughnessy.

There's a Knocksentry not far from Clyduff - could that be the place name after Martin Connell but spelt with a 'C' instead of an 'S'?

...and Connells living there in the census of 1901.

Thanks all! Seems that Catherine's maiden name was Keogh and she had previously married a Ryan, but no luck with finding info on that marriage unfortunately (tried every permutation).

There was a James Ryan born to a Catherine Keogh and Timothy Ryan in Clyduff 20-May-1871 (Civil record - Annacotty)
also a John Ryan for Thadeus Ryan (same man presumably?) and Catherine Keogh 08-Nov-1868- Clyduff (Castleconnell parish)
also (same parents) Matthew 12-Aug-1866 - Clyduff (Castleconnell parish).

As you said though, can't find the marriage record.

    **edit**
If Timothy/Thaddeus is her husband, he died 13-Jun-1871, aged 56, from 'a pain in his hip. 6 months uncertified'.

Have you tried searching in Newport? I'm aware of Castleconnell (Gardenhill) people being registered there.

Thanks for that - how did you find that? When I search irishgenealogy.ie for all Timothy Ryan deaths 1871 to 1874, they have no associated images.

Also how did you find the sons so quickly given that irishgenealogy.ie doesn't let you search by parents? Am I missing some genealogy search tips? :)

I used rootsireland.ie It allows a search by parent.

Can anyone help me identify this https://drive.google.com/file/d/1k6XvkXbjYTOO7G10-qmUcQbxeswnYv67/view signature? I think the second name might be Dockery

What is the document and does that handwriting appear anywhere else on the document for comparison purposes?

Another awful one. First name....mebbe 'Frank'. Yes, comparisons may be helpful.

Am I right about the bold bits, and any guesses as to the missing bits? Cheers,

Oh here's a weird one. So there's a John Wixted & Ellen Ryan (or thought it was Ellen) and then two births for a John Wixted and _Julian_ Ryan (which, er, is obviously wrong for the 1820s!)

    https://search.findmypast.ie/record?id=IRE/PRS/BAP/0426551 (Ellen?)
    https://search.findmypast.ie/record?id=IRE/PRS/BAP/0426212 (Ellen?)
    https://search.findmypast.ie/record?id=IRE/PRS/BAP/0427013 (Julian)
    https://search.findmypast.ie/record?id=IRE/PRS/BAP/0427490 (Julian)

Looking at "ellen" again, I'm wondering if it's "Jillian", which would then explain the latter mistaken use of Julian?

    Probably Knockancullenagh, Co Tipperary http://maps.osi.ie/publicviewer/#V2,576530,660168,10,7

One way to find townlands if you know the county is to go to http://maps.osi.ie/publicviewer/#V2,578432,756724,0,10
    Click on 'search'
Click on 'By County' select your county from the drop down menu
    Click on 'townland'
You can scroll down the list of townlands in this county to find the one the looks like the one you're looking for. Be aware that spellings change, so be flexible...

John Wixtead married Juliana Ryan in Newport on Feb 16th 1806.
She appears also as Dillon, Jillan and Julian in various baptismal records.

Her death in 1868 lists her as Julia.

Thanks for all the replies so far. Unfortunately I don't have anything to compare it against. I went through another document where I expected to find something but there was nothing similar. I've also carried out Google Image Searches for "cursive writing" to see if I could find something to at least match the first letter in each word.

Frank was a suggestion offered for the first name (I'm not sure if it's a dot half way in the word or simply a "slip of the pen".

Yes - we need to see the full page to see other examples of the writer's handwriting.

    I think this says:

"Gillian illegitimate Thomas Wixted G/Port Ryan Smith
& Mary Kennedy sp(onsors) Mary Anne Shaw"

Just checking does that indeed say "illegitimate" and also what 'G/Port Ryan Smith' means if correct
