    Bakleth speaks from the corner.

'Bakleth works best alone. Bakleth would not be good candidate for leader. Perhaps the meat pleasurer would be good choice? Bakleth learned new things from meat pleasurer already.'

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 35,024 ✭✭✭✭Baggly

Dhinor frowns and turns to Bakleth.

'Meat pleasurer? What do you mean, friend?'

Dhinor hopes its something getting lost in translation.

"Leaders don't always have good plans and good plans don't have to come from leaders. I follow good plans."
I return to decorating my filter, making it look like a teeth bared, growling maw with some neon pens I pilfered from engineering.

    I'm older than Minecraft goats.

    Evan clears his throat.
"Hi all. I haven't really introduced myself. My name is Ross-Juan, but you can call me RJ. I'm not sure why the Scouts asked me to come on this mission, truth be told I thought this was my mother arranging yet another date to try to marry upwards so I can get her off Tyrfing and into a nice condo on Gram, but given the lack of proposals so far I'm starting to realise that that is not the case.

I don't know what skills I can offer the team - I studied engineering, mostly electronics in relation to power generation and dissipation, and I guess in a pinch I could fly a ship or drive a landcruiser but I've spent the last few years just wandering haphazardly across the galaxy." He fixes Dhinor with a steely stare. "So I guess that makes me Captain."

Bakleth shrugs and looks at RJ

'Bakleth smelled RJ pleasuring some meat. Bakleth thought it was some sort of human mating ritual.

Bakleth tried to use the tactic and got threatened by gun. Maybe it only works for humans? Bakleth still confused.'

Dhinor looks from Bakleth to Evan/RJ, his expression changing from worried to stern as he does.

    'Care to explain, RJ?'

Dhinor cares not one jot for Evans' steely expression. It will take more than that to intimidate Dhinor Pira.

    "Explain what?"

Verne rolls his eyes at the surge of testosterone in the room. Let the humans work it out amongst themselves. He stands quietly at the back of the room and observes.

    Bakleth looks at Dhinor now.

'Ah, now Bakleth remembers. It was Dhinor who ate RJ's pleasured meat. Bakleth thought it odd. But Bakleth does not know human customs. Is this what humans do before they copulate?

Did you share the meat with Dagonet? Bakleth is interested in this custom and how to perfect it.'

'Bakleth is saying you 'pleasured meat' recently. Perhaps its a feat you want to tell us about to aid your claim to the captaincy?'

'You are mistaken Bakleth; Dagonet is a vegetarian, and i only ate vegetarian food prepared by her chef.'

'If RJ did indeed pleasure meat, this is not a human custom i am familiar with. I think, in fact it was an attemped insult to me, since RJ seems displeased with me.'

Dhinor isnt happy with the meat revelation, if it was true. That Evan/RJ person seems sketchy and out for himself only. Dhinor can work with people who want to work with him. He has no interest in humouring someone who is acting like an eccentric adolescent, however.

'What say ye, Glenn? Who do you read as a good leader. And what say you of the meat pleasurer? Is he on the level and being true with us?'

Bakleth's eyes light up on hearing Dagonet is a vegetarian.

'Perhaps we should convince Captain Dagonet to join us? Bakleth would feel more comfortable following a fellow herbivore.'

<OOC reminder - since I've never said the name Evan out loud, I've never introduced my self to any of you and all my documentation says "Ross-Juan Tuaite", let's drop the Evan thing :D >

"Clip-clop, what is this? If you needed me to wingman for you so you could saddle up that desperada on the dust-ball planet, you should have said. I'm not a mind reader!"

He looks at dragon-boy and thinks very hard "OR AM I?"

"But don't start taking it out on me now. That's not the way a good subordinate acts.

I don't think there's any chance Dagonet is going to abandon her post as commander of a far trader so she can go slumming it round this toxic scumworld with us. Although, if you give Dinner another 6 months he might eventually wear her down. I hear he almost got a wave out of her on their last date."

OOC: sorry the novice at work here, but would that be how it would work? Wouldnt we call you Evan in the third person, and RJ in the first person?

    Bakleth shrugs from the corner.

'Wingman? What is this wingman? I do not have wings - nor am I a man you puny human. I am a male K'Kree - not an insignificant...'man'. If you are to captain us I suggest you learn the difference.'

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 10,485 ✭✭✭✭Banjo

<OOC @ Pter : I do not see that as my problem :D (no idea, I'm making this up as I go)>

"RJ doesn't learn, hoofer, he delegates. Hey, Aircon - " <addressing Nestor> " - can you tell the difference between humans and horsemans?"

'Your erratic behaviour at the scout base and now this accusation of tampering with food, coupled with the fact you cant give us a straight answer, does not inspire condidence. If we are taking a vote, i will not be giving it to you, RJ.'

Dhinor turns to the group. 'Very well; i propose i shall act as captain until such time as i die or a better candidate becomes apparent. I propose that we spend our time commissioned exploring some of the unknown planets in the Galaxy. After we are done with this planet, i suggest we head to the Sword Worlds before heading the Querion region and then Fessol. I propose we then reevaluate and see where we stand.'

    Bakleth shakes his head.

'Captain, don't captain - Bakleth does not care. I shall meet you in the town.'

Bakleth leaves the room and heads for the exit of the craft.

Glenn listens to the back and forth and tries to choose his words carefully...

"I believe we all have things we're not telling each other, isn't that true of all strangers when they first meet? And I also believe that my role here isn't to read someone's mind whenever someone else asks me to. However, and most importantly, I believe that if we can't even agree in this room what our first few steps are, then we are doomed to failure. As such, I agree with Dhinor's proposal, if for no other reason than he has actually mentioned a high level plan of what we should do. As Dhinor himself says, at least until he dies or somone else clearly is a better candidate".

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,367 ✭✭✭conor222

"That works for me, I think we should contact the local leadership to make sure our time here is smooth and hassle free. That ok with you, *smirks* captain?"

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 10,485 ✭✭✭✭Banjo

"....until he dies...." Evan muses to himself as he leaves the room, headed for disembarkation.

"After extensive research through the medical data I believe the difference is down to the number of legs, although through accident or intent the number of legs of anyone can vary."

    To the group Nestor continues
"I suggest that we get off the ship and start talking to the locals. The dockers will usually have information on the comings and goings as well as an insight into the workings of this world. Every docker loves to grumble. Seems to me that some machismo lead drinking banter might be our best option so I'd say that sounds like a job for the military among us.

I also think that we send a 'diplomatic' team to make nice with the ruling elite. I suggest the cat and the dragon.

As for me, I'm going to secure accommodation for us all, get the gear stowed and then see what this planet has to offer.
Don't forget to wear your wooley underies, it's cold out there.

    Like my mask? Grrrrrrrrr"

OOC: Do we know where the ship is and we are just collecting it all legal like? If it's here in the port I'm just going to move our equipment directly to it and set up base.

    I'm older than Minecraft goats.

Nestor glances at the briefing Jansen Cas sent them. Location of ship is unknown. Last transmitted jump destination was Walston. No others were ever received, so most likely it is still in the system.

'That seems fine. Either we hear of something interesting, or we head for the Sword Worlds.

Primary info is regarding our ship; secondary info should be around options to travel to next. Lets get to it.

Ill be heading to the nearest bar to rustle up some information. Anyone care to join me?'

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 10,485 ✭✭✭✭Banjo

Before leaving the ship, Ethan or whatever he's calling himself gives Nestor the best descriptions he can of the guys he saw in the brig back on the Scout world and asks her to do a few sketches, giving pointers until he's satisfied she's got their likenesses down. He asks nicely, using her proper name, keeping eye contact instead of trying to see up her vents, a real gentleman.

Assuming she's cool with that, which given she can't eat a nacho without it becoming a priceless work of art betwixt bowl and dip shouldn't be an issue, he takes those pictures and goes looking for salvage yards, breakdown assist or whomever you would normally call on this planet if your own ship broke down.

'I shall join you. Maybe you can explain to me the human custom of meat pleasuring on the way.'

Verne bares his teeth at the human. 'That is indeed a fearsome mask Nestor. This is a good plan, I am used to negotiations.' He turns to Glenn 'care to join me in an expedition to the leaders of this world?'

    [OOC: SNAP!]

Verne chuckles and nods at Glenn. 'Lets go'

Glenn checks his equipment and makes sure it's all fully charged and he hasn't forgotten anything. He heads towards the door with Verne and says "We can toss a coin to see who gets to say 'Take me to your Leader' first..."
