I really don't think people are thinking of claiming all the time and it is not a reason for Irish Rail to run trains today but hope nobody is on them.

Fair play Irish rail - but there were no staff there to clean off platforms.

Got into a taxi - told the driver that and he said- " I should go back and slip for a claim" - it was sort of a joke - but a bit mad to think like that. Proving it is part of our culture.

    Anybody fall yet?

I'd a few close moments on my way to work, as soon as you come off the compacted snow some of the paths are lethal, especially in the type of footwear I have on. Coming home will be worse.

I'm afraid that I'm going to go viral on youtube before the end of the week.
My sister was nearly home today when she fell & broke her arm in two places:(

How can she be on two places at the one time:confused:

Or did she fall in one place, get up then fall down in another place.

Hope she gets better soon and stays away from dangerous places.

My husband's boss is not closing the office tomorrow. What an unrepentant money-grubbing arsehole with a lot of disgruntled employees on his hands. Public transport isn't even running tomorrow.

Its a bit of a joke that the country has to effectivly shut down due to snow

Other countries get this type of weather frequently and manage to keep things going

Will bosses never learn! They’ll take their revenge tenfold in the coming months. Employees have ways of making the bosses pay through low productivity, commitment and loyalty, but sure he knows best!

That's because they get it frequently and are geared up to deal with it.

    Why can't people understand this?

Either way, the country kept going pretty well today.

Also, tomorrow's weather looks like it's going to be quite significant.

Ireland doesn't normally get weather like this, of course we have to shut down.

    Oh boo hoo.
Tell your husband take a days holidays if you’re so concerned.
The world can’t stop just cos of a few inches of snow.

People need to grow up. Adults excited by this weather? Sad.

This cold snap will kill elderly/homeless people, put our hospitals under severe pressure cost the country a fortune in fuel bills and some people are actually getting upset because they haven’t gotten enough snow.

I'll lay odds that if the government invested in infrastructure and plant/machinery to deal with these conditions and they lie unused for 15 years you'll complain about the waste too.

As others have said the bolded bit is important. We are not the only country to be taking this seriously Britain, France, Germany even Russia(who know bad weather).

I wonder if they did not take this seriously are numbers died would you be first on here giving out.

To add to this, whenever the sun came out today, Bossman would take photos and send them around the company saying "Oh, this is Snowmageddon, is it?".
