He stared in many tv shows of the 50's, 60's 70's & 80's from Dr Who to Department S & Jason King he also played one of the many Number 2's opposite Patrick McGoohan's Number 6.

Always good value was Wyngarde, really should have had a bigger career. His early life would make a good film on it's own - caught in Shanghai when the Japanese arrived along with JB Ballard and interned for the rest of the war without any family.

Robert Dowdell died aged 85 he is probably best remembered from Voyage to the Bottom of the Sea he also guest starred in a lot of classic shows from the 60's 70's and early 80's.

Reg E. Cathey has died aged 59...R.I.P.

Television acting titan Reg E. Cathey has died at the age of 59.

The baritone-voiced star, best known for his roles in The Wire and House of Cards, had reportedly been battling lung cancer.

Cathey's extensive list of TV credits included Oz, Grimm, E.R. and horror series Outcast.

Edit: Just read this from his Wiki page, don't know if its someone's idea of a joke or what but... Cathey had expressed a wish to appear in the soap opera Fair City lol :eek:. Although saying that the guy who played Kane on Home and Away is now a writer on Fair City so stranger things have happened.

MASH writer Ken Levine has posted a tribute here. He tells how Stiers was hired for MASH because they were looking for the opposite of Frank Burns (Larry Linville), who was leaving the show, and the producers already knew Stiers after a guest appearance on The Mary Tyler Moore Show. He was simply offered the job, no casting sessions or auditions. That Boston accent was precisely modulated: not too weak or too strong, just right.

This is a bad week, it's like 2016 all over again

There's a great chapter in Dara O'Briain's book 'Tickling The English' where he talks going to see Ken Dodd's epic live show. He says the energy, the length of the show and sheer number of jokes that kept coming were unreal and like nothing he has ever seen in comedy. This from a man who was into his eighties by then.

It's a book that seems to be in every charity shop in the country, well worth checking out.

I remember seeing Jim Bowen talking about his time on Bullseye on some programme a few years ago and he was very harsh on himself for things like not knowing the right camera to look into, not knowing when it was his cue and so on but while he may not have been what you'd call a polished performer, he came across warm and enthusiastic which is the main thing you need in a host.

I never felt the Bullseye remakes they did ever captured the essence of the original show. It was one of those shows that was just of its time.
