€6k is realistic. Is it now time to bail or time to buy

Wait for the panic selling to stop. Don't try and catch a falling knife. It'll level at the bottom before it picks it's next direction. There's no sign of a bottom yet.

****ing hell this is grim. A few weeks ago I was up €5k. I'm about to go net negative.

Here's the thing: I've been expecting a total wipeout for ages, but I honestly don't think this is the big one. I can see it coming back again...but I've been wrong before. Which is why I'm not selling my almost free stake yet.

Unfortunately I had to pay good money for them, but when the price quadrupled I sold off a quarter of my stake.

Speculative 'investing' 101. Sure I wouldn't be in the same league as crypto-geniuses like yourself.

Still annoyed I didn't sell more, or later, but the golden rule of bubbles is that almost nobody manages to sell at the top.

Believe what you like, but I think it's telling that you find such basic risk management surprising.

It would be a major step towards maturity if the SEC gets involved. Hopefully winnow out most of the obvious con ICOs, and/or punish those involved. What's left will be vastly more investible.

Whats telling is the way irritating know it alls like you crawl out from under their rocks during a downturn to tell us how clever they are in every thread then magically disappear when new all time highs are inevitably being set again, predictable as the tides.

I thought this was rescheduled to mid February?

I'm not sure I understand you. What is irritating you? Can you not do the same as I did and sell to cover what you've spent? If you can, it might be worth considering as you can then watch the market with a fair degree of equanimity. Fair enough, your 'winnings' won't be as big if your ship comes in, but your losses will be negligible if it goes tango uniform.

The key to investing is keeping an emotional distance from it.

It's still not clear to me why my approach to gambling on crypto is so annoying to you. I suggest you ease off on the personal abuse and focus on the content.

No you're confused, Im saying you're annoying, I dont care about your "strategy" in the slightest.

Thank **** I didn't dip in again on that false recovery. Sub $6k looks likely soon enough.

In fairness, its not a complicated strategy. Skim off profits when you can. It's pretty basic. I think you are over reacting.

It's a dip only if it goes back up. This is not just a dip -- it's a drop of epic proportions. It's the sound of a bubble bursting. It is a majorly concerning event when something drops by 70% in a month. And a burst bubble is usually followed by a prolonged period of bearish stagnancy. It is realistically hard to see Bitcoin repeating the December highs of $18K .............. in the near future at any rate.

Please don't see this as FUDSTER-ism. I still have great regard for the tech and potential of crypto. I've been in Bitcoin since 1913; got out of it last November as documented in posts on here at the time. I have buy-back-ins booked at a price of $2,500.

Y'all be careful out there in these volatile times.

Maybe, but I didn't get rich out of being "in" early ! :)
(Bought fifty BTC at $30 each -- sold them shortly afterwards at $100 each. Two months later, the price reached $1,100. Weak hands !). :o

Do you honestly believe another generation of suckers are going to come along and buy this useless entity above $20000?
