Does it come with the dimmer switch.... similarly, does it actually come with the bulb? Or is it just for the fitment?

Seems to be both the dimmer and bulb included from the description

Sorry my bad, I see it says
"Hue White Ambience GU10 LED Supplied"
and product contents "Milliskin recessed spot and wireless dimming switch."
    Excellent price alright!

    careful now!

I don't think this comes with the switch - it looks like they've used the same description for both this and the Kit version.

    Amazon have done the same.

There are 2 products : the kit, which does incl. the switch and the standard, which doesn't

on the screwfix page, in the more items to consider section, you can see they have another product which mentions the dimmer switch in the product title, but the description and product contents is the exact same for both.

of course, you could order the standard and have reasonable arguments to make, but I can't see them honouring the product contents listing

I would imagine that as the product contents list both the light and dimmer they would have to honour it. It specifically mentions both

Just picked up 2 as presents (cheers for the up!), I have the hue iris myself and everyone that sees it wants it, plus it probably gets the most use of any lamp in the house.

I could be wrong but don't think that version is HUE compatible. Which is why you get that remote. The HUE bloom doesn't come with a remote.

Correct, it’s not a Hue light, although I believe there is a hack that will get it to work with a Hue system.

Apologies for posting that info on the lamp. Hopefully anyone who has ordered thinking it was a hue product can cancel straight away.

Thanks guys for pointing it out.

    I have updated the post.

I think it should still work. I bought a Philips Livingcolours Iris a while back, it too came with the remote and while it did not mention anything about Hue in the manual or on the box there was a nice Zigbee icon.

So it was just a matter of adding it to hue using the serial number.

I believe its also possible to add the remote to Hue too but I never bothered

I received two of these lamps from Amazon Italy before Christmas after ordering them months previous.
They're lovely lights and I can confirm you can get them to work with your hue hub following a simple YouTube tutorial but once they're paired with hue the remote becomes useless and does absolutely nothing so I'd be really interested if it was possible to get my hue hub to recognize the remote.

I too would like to get the remote working along with hue, and going by any of the links and probably that same youtube video, it appears to be possible.

I tried all the mentioned ways except the one that recommended resetting the entire hue system, I'll attempt that at some stage but not in a rush to do it :pac:

Fullfilled by amazon doesnt count. I wouldnt mind a hue strip, so just looking for something else that's cheap to put me over the £50

    Edit: 2 of these so:

Thanks amazon. Split my shipping. Both arriving today, but in separate deliveries. I did have a look to see was there an option to "ship in 1 shipping" but couldnt see one on Amazon.

I think that option only appears if its known at time of order that both items are shipping from same Amazon location, otherwise it doesn't show up.

I got caught out with it a couple of times before Christmas where I ended up paying double Parcel Motel fees for the same order, pain in the hole.

Probably a good assumption that if it doesn't appear as an option it will be split.

I will def post up once I hear back but I am away until Sunday, just moved into a house and it's cold so will probably suffer this winter. Have fired off an email in the meantime.

I will probably get attic insulation done at least as well maybe walls too depending on price/timing, there is a good gas bolier there at the moment, no zones plumbed (bungalow and everything is 1 zone) so for that reason Evohome is appealing to me. Ladyfriend also likes the interface of the evohome but I want to do a comparison between that and the others. Will report back when I make a decision.

Did you ever get a real quote from EI on the Evohome kit?

Picked up these for my new GH - v easy to set up and work well. A lot cheaper than the TP link versions I was looking at.

    Works for Alexia too...

Would you believe I didn't. I'll follow up this week and see what they say! New house so an endless list of things to do and this kinda got pushed down the list. After, attic insulation, stove, couch and painting...

    Thanks for the reminder!

Some interesting hue bundles on Amazon right now

2x Twin pack E14/B22/E27 colour plus a motion sensor - £150 (motion sensor is £30 on its own, so £120 for 4 colour bulbs - £30 per colour bulb)
2x Twin Pack E14/B22/E27 colour plus a dimmer switch - £150 (dimmer switch is £20 on it's own, so £130 for 4 colour bulbs - £32.50 per colour bulb)
(or look at it like £37.50 per bulb with a free sensor/dimmer)

Tado TRVs down to £54 on Amazon. Free ROI postage, though if you buy 3 or more the lower UK VAT covers the PM cost

    Yep worked first time.

Next thing I'm going to look at is light bulbs, think I'll pick up one of the Philips starter kits when going through the airport the week after next. Looked at Ikea but they always seem to be out of stock.

Can't believe price difference for the starter kits...£49.99 on Amazon or €119.99 in Woodies 😱

Odd the 2nd item I got was one of those "add on only" items. Where you can only buy it if you've bought other items at the same time.
