I went into Currys in Carlow to chance my arm with them, the "Headphone" section was a mess, everything mislabelled and stuff thrown everywhere. Saw the QCs and saw there was no price tag. Didn't say whether they were V2 or V1 either so I said i'd ask a staff member what the price was. Couldn't find anyone anywhere despite 3 or 4 staff behind the counters chatting away so joined the queue there. Eventually got a lad but he didn't know the price so went off to check. Another 10 minute wait and he comes back, calls me over to one of the display PCs they have and shows me the currys website with the price of €430. I told him they're going for less than €300 online but he said that was their price end of. Not his fault but reminded me why I never go in there, incompetent staff and just a ****ty shop.

    Not very impressive shop indeed!

As you've said below probably a mistake not to be repeated - what store?

Poster mentioned it was in Limerick.

Out of curiosity what do you plan using the app for?

With my QC30 I basically only use the app for firmware updates and maybe the odd time to clean-up saved devices. Aside from that it just works and I am quite happy all the controls I need are on the device and don’t require an app (I know the 35 also has ANC control in the app rather than physical buttons, but I assume that’s not the reason to call it cool).

Edit: just noticed my post might sound a bit negative. I’m not saying the app is useless or anything but for me it is definitely not something I would call cool so wondering if I’m missing a few tricks.

While you can get £10 off amazon today and parcel motel delivery, I wonder wil it work out cheaper than: https://www.amazon.es/Bose-QuietComfort-Auriculares-inal%C3%A1mbricos-reducci%C3%B3n/dp/B01E3SNO3E/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1516878071&sr=8-1&keywords=qc+35

You wouldn't need to use Parcel Motel or similar for either of those though would you? Can just get them delivered direct from either.

I don't use the app at all. Set it up and away you go, no need for the app really except to do the updates etc I'm sure. Or maybe I'm missing something also?

Agreed. With my QC30 the app doesn't add much. One thing it does do is tell you the battery percentage, which they seem to only do themselves when turning them on, meaning if they are already on you have to turn them off and on again.

As they give little warning that the battery is about to run out, there is no wired option and you can't use them while charging, it's kind of handy to be able to keep an eye on the battery level so as not to let it run out completely.

i think there is button sequence you can press to give a battery level

That would be great but I can't find any info on that. A quick press of the power button announces which devices they are connected to, but not the battery level. I guess this would be a reasonable feature request to send to Bose.

Also for reference on iOS devices the battery charge is displayed directly by the OS in several easily accessible locations. I find that easier than running the app.

There must be a way to do the same thing with Android.

Edit: this might not yet be a feature integrated to Android by default but if not it is in the works: https://www.theverge.com/2017/7/31/16070248/android-bluetooth-battery-indicators
And iOS definitely does it already.

yeah whats that about!? Was reading through the bose forums and some were saying the mark II were very poor volume wise compared to mark I ! Not fussed on the google assist or whatever it is on newer version. Just want the mark I at a good price.

I got a pair on Friday due to be delivered to north on Monday for 284 euro from amazon Spain. I’d say parcel motel them. Tax drops when you send them north was about 294 delivered to here.

I'm pleased to report I get a battery level indicator for my Bose QC30 on my new OnePlus 5T phone, and that's using Android 7.1.1 [Edit: so I guess the QC35/II would too]

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,351 ✭✭✭yannakis

I also get it for QC35 II on my Xiaomi Mi Mix 2 with stock MIUI 9.2.3.0 (which is Android 7.1.1)!

Just a final post from a long time follower of this thread. Loving my Series II's, just amazing sound quality, its like hearing songs for the first time again.

A little story about them - I popped out for a coffee yesterday (after swearing I wouldn't wear them when I was out walking!). Still had them on when I came in, went upstairs to do a bit of work. Came down about 30 mins later and took off them. Someone's house alarm going off, that's annoying... slowly dawns on me that it was my own house alarm! Forgot I put it on when I went out, didn't hear either the beeps when I came in or the alarm itself going off for 30 mins.

Two morals to that story, first the noise cancelling on these things is astonishing. And second, your neighbours aren't go to do anything to save your house if the alarm is going off!

My QC35 II tells me how much battery is left when I turn them on. My phone also displays it.

I have to say that thought did occur to me. The only saving grace is I assume if I'm awake enough to listen to music I'll smell the fire!
