We are/were really looking forward to sending our son to the Educate Together primary school in Celbridge, but when we went to the open day, we were somewhat concerned about the very close proximity of high tension overhead power lines to the school. As soon as I got home I did a bit of online research to find out if I was right to have health concerns about this. It turns out the jury is out on this....i.e. there is no definitive proof one way or the other. A recent study in the UK found that there was a link between increased incidents of childhood Leukemia and living close to high tension power lines, but it was also made clear that this was not proof that Leukemia was caused by the EMF emitted from the cables.....it could have just been some sort of coincidence.

    .....however, no smoke without fire?

Anyone else here have concerns about this or am I being over cautious? Would it affect your decision to send your child there? It has definitely made us think twice!

    Cheers.
