So a green outside and purple inside! I’m assuming it’ll be the 24 J config not the ones with 8 F seats?

Will it have AVOD or overhead screens???

If its coming from Qatar surely a 5 star airline would have at least some form of AVOD system on their long/medium haul aircraft!!

How much longer will they hold onto the 757s? Flown on them 4 times recently and it was an awful expierience, broken toilets, jammed doors, broken seats, no hot water, IFE problems they need a lot of TLC.

The A321neoLRs will begin being delivered next year so over the next 2/3 years I guess some or all of the 757s will be phased out.

The first four A321neoLRs in 2019 are for fleet expansion, only when the last four arrive 2020 will the 757s be phased out

Sorry lads, this is why I put in the sarcastic smiley face after someone suggested it would only be used on MCO. It seemed to be one of those types of questions from the non A&A regulars. :D;)

Perhaps. EI already put 212 in their current ones. I think Wizzair have 220 capacity.

757-300 is certified for about 300 pax. Don't think anyone uses the entire lot but they come close.

EasyJet are doing 235 seats, but I'd imagine they'll be loading from the front and back doors so shouldn't be too bad. EI will have a config not much different than that 757s so shouldn't be too much of a change for them.

Certified capacity is dependent on the door config

The LR removes the L2/R2 door which gets back 2 seats and several inches

If you loose the extra front lav and the larger front galley you get another row and a few more inches

Wizz Air currently fit 230 seats into their A321 fleet and this will increase to 239 seats with the A321neo due next year. I flew with them last week to Gdansk on a brand new A321, boarding didn't seem to take that much longer than an A320 but legroom did seem slightly less. The cabin looked endless from the front, seemed to go on forever with a sea of dark purple seats!

Aer Lingus will of course be putting far fewer seats into their A321LR fleet and the speed of boarding won't matter as much on transatlantic flights as it would for high density low cost carrier. I have to hand it to Wizz Air though, they approach their business in a very similar way to Ryanair yet manage to make flying with them mostly a painless and quite pleasant experience overall.

I think that will be the ULCC option with like 28” seat pitch and virtually no galleys. Sounds horrific, but EI won’t have that configuration as they will still have business class and proper galleys for catering.

And if they want the likes of me flying with them they will have to improve that seat pitch. 31" is the economy pitch at the moment, anything less and they can forget it.

Yeah they will much more than 28” as I said that the ultimate low cost option where you’d have 240 seats like Wizz will have.
The EI configuration will probably be very similar to the 757s

Yeah Wow used their 321neo for that, am I right in thinking it’s a non ETOPS route and therefore doesn’t require the LR version?

Here is the test flight https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-pmbpSP_ceY

It was raining during it, so she is good for Ireland ;)

Reading some tweets from a BA A320 captain today and he mentioned that the A320 is ETOPS as standard now... so I'd imagine that also applies to the A321NEO

ETOPS has to be certified per plane and per carrier, and isn't cheap, so it would seem the aircraft are capable of being *certified* as ETOPS as standard, not ETOPS as standard. WOW doesn't have any ETOPS certifications last I'd heard, but they were on their way to certification so it may have changed recently, they traditionally they take slightly longer routing over Greenland for their US flights to avoid the ETOPS requirements.

If I had a 34’ option from Dublin (exit rows aside) I’d use it every time.

I develop Superior Solitaire when I'm not procrastinating on boards.ie.

The Virgin 787 has 1 row in economy that has a 34" pitch which they sell for an extra £50.

Yeah, the only ETOPS rated BA minibus planes/crews are the A318 and those who fly it out of LCY. All Aer Lingus crews and 320s/1s are ETOPS rated AFAIK for the T16 runs down to the Canaries, which BA don’t use.

Should make introduction of the LRs relatively smooth for EI actually , crews already ETOPS rated, know the NAT procedures, probably just need to be rated on CPDLC and off they go (very tongue in cheek for any EI jockeys reading).
