    Division 1 :

Manchester City continue their march to their sixth title, and third in a row, with a 2-0 victory in Rome against a youthful and experimental Lazio side with little to play for. City's nearest challengers, Liverpool, were beaten at home in the Merseyside derby thanks to two goals in three minutes for the Toffees which lifted themselves up into 13th, and four points clear of the drop zone. Barcelona, courtesy of their 2-1 home win against already relegated Cruzeiro, leapfrog Liverpool into second and remain just one point behind City with two games remining

In the battle to avoid relegation, Anzhi were the big winners as they moved two points clear after a fantastic 2-0 win at the Bernabeu, leapfrogging Benfica who could only manage a scoreless draw at home to Manchester United. Sunderland were the unfortunate side who drop into the relegation zone as goals from Mousa Dembele and Borja Valero were not enough to secure any points at the Allianz Arena as Bayern ran out 3-2 winners, leaving the Wearside outfit in 18th, level on points with Benfica above them.

    Turn 37 Key Fixtures :

    Manchester City (1st) V (6th) SSC Napoli
    Rangers (20th) V (2nd) Barcelona
    Borussia Dortmund (10th) V (17th) SL Benfica
    Anzhi (16th) V (9th) FC Schalke
    Sunderland (18th) V (11th) Juventus

    Division 2 :

Turn 36 was all about Tottenham Hotspur as they clinched not only promotion to the top tier, but also the Division 2 title with a 1-0 win away to surprise relegation battlers Paris Saint-Germain, with Frenchman Dimitri Payet scoring the solitary goal. The title itself was confirmed by the London outfit after their nearest challengers, Roma, succumbed to a disappointing 1-0 defeat in Moscow, a result which has opened the door for Arsenal in third to steal second place from the Romans. The pair meet in on Sunday in what is sure to be a tense encounter for both managers.

In the relegation battle, it still looks very ominous for VfB Stuttgart who were unable to fully capitalise on PSG's loss to the current champions as they could only manage a well fought 2-2 draw at home to Sporting CP. Meanwhile, Aston Villa confirmed their tier 2 status next season with a 2-2 draw in Argentina against fellow relegation candidates, Estudiantes who themselves should feel considerably more assured about their own status as they remain five points clear with just two to play.

    Key Turn 37 Fixtures :
    AS Roma (2nd) V (3rd) Arsenal
    Flamengo (5th) V (6th) Malaga
    Lyon (7th) V (15th) Estudiantes
    Tottenham (1st) V (18th) Stuttgart
Aston Villa (14th) Vs (17th) PSG

Cant believe that the fixture that could confirm little Porto's presence in D1 for a 12th consecutive season isnt considered 'key'

    Division 1 :

It's as you were regarding the top two in Division 1 as leaders Manchester City edge past SSC Napoli 3-2, thanks to an 86th minute Cristiano Ronaldo winner. Barcelona had a much easier task of overcoming the division whipping boys, Rangers, and duly obliged with a 5-1 demolition, with Leo Messi grabbing a hattrick. It leaves a massive encounter on Thursday as the two face off at the Nou Camp with just one point separating them. Barca V City. 2nd V 1st. Messi V Ronaldo. This is a game that doesn't need dressing up! The title decider!

Meanwhile, at the opposite end, three more teams have confirmed their division 1 status for next season. FC Porto clinched safety themselves with a convincing 3-0 win over a very youthful Lazio side, while Real Madrid's and Everton's statuses were confirmed due to Sunderland's defeat at home to an Alexis Sanchez goal for Juventus. Manchester United on the other hand are effectively safe by virtue of the fact that both Anzhi and Benfica face each other in the final round of games.

    Division 1 Key Fixtures :
Barcelona (2nd) Vs (1st) Manchester City
    Benfica (17th) V (16th) Anzhi
    Liverpool (4th) V (18th) Sunderland

    Division 2 :
Arsenal were the big victors in round 37 as they came away from 2nd placed Roma with a 2-0 win, which lifts them above their hosts and sees them needing just a point in their final game at home to Sporting to confirm an immediate return to Division 1. Should they slip up, however, Roma have the more difficult task of needing a win against their fellow Italians, Udinese in order to steal back the cherished second placed position.

There's a three way battle for the last playoff spot with current occupiers, Malaga, only holding it on goal difference ahead of Lyon and Sevilla. Two of these teams face each other in the last round of games though, with Sevilla travelling to take on Malaga in an all Spanish affair. A favourable result here could see Lyon prize the position away from Malaga when they travel to Birmingham to take on an Aston Villa side with little to play for.

It's all done and dusted in the relegation battle thanks largely to newly crowned champions Tottenham continuing their good run with a 2-1 win at home to Stuttgart which sealed the German side's fate as a Division 3 side next season. The relief was felt in France, though, as it meant that fellow relegation candidates, Estudiantes, had avoided a swift return to the third tier, despite suffering a 2-0 loss to playoff chasers, Lyon.

    Division 2 Key Fixtures :
Arsenal (2nd) Vs (12th) Sporting CP
Udinese (4th) Vs (3rd) AS Roma
    Malaga (6th) Vs (8th) Sevilla
Aston Villa (14th) Vs (7th) Olympique Lyonnais

    Division 1:

...and so, after 37 long and grueling matches, it came down to a straight shootout for the title between Barcelona and Manchester City, in front of a packed crowd (but not a sellout as there were still 26 seats left) at the Nou Camp. It was all going to plan for the home team in the first half as they went in 1-0 up at the break thanks to a sweet strike by Gareth Bale close to the half hour mark.

The visitors tried to push for an equaliser in the second half but had to be wary of dangerous Barcelona counter attacks. Eventuall, a foul committed by Barcelona at the edge of the box led to a potential chance by Cristiano Ronaldo. However, when everyone was expecting a Ronaldo shot, he whipped in a cross straight to the onrushing Marco Reus who volleyed home to put the Manchester outfit back on top of the league. City managed to safely negotiate the final ten minutes to grab their third title in a row, and fourth in five seasons.

At the the other end of the table, a 1-1 draw between Benfica and Anzhi left the Portuguese holding their breath while waiting for any bits of news filtering through from Anfield, where Sunderland were holding their hosts scoreless. Eventually, the goalless scoreline was confirmed, and Sunderland's fate was sealed.

Sergio Aguero was the main man of the season, finishing as highest scorer with a whopping 27 goals, and also as assist leader with 16.

    Division 2 :

Needing a point to claim their spot in Division 1, Arsenal duly delivered with a 1-1 draw at home to Sporting CP. However, Hector Bellerin made it a nervy last 20 minutes for his own fans with an awkward own goal, cancelling out Karim Benzema's opener just 10 minutes earlier.

The point for Arsenal proved irrelevant, however, as AS Roma, who needed a win to capitalise on any Arsenal slip up, could also only manage a 1-1 at fellow playoff side, Udinese.

The battle for the final playoff place proved far more exciting though, with each of the three contenders occupying the position at some point during the round. Here's a stage-by-stage synopsis of the drama:

11' - Yannick Gerhardt puts Sevilla 1-0 up in Malaga, lifting the visitors above their hosts and into 6th, two points clear of 7th.

21' - Ciro Immobile finds the net to send Lyon into a 1 goal lead, putting them into that 6th position, dropping Sevilla into 7th.

32' - Vieira Luan equalises for Villa, knocking Lyon back into 7th, behind Sevilla.

34' - Jonas Hector finds the net as Lyon respond almost immediately to Villa's equaliser, lifting them back into 6th, where they remained at half time in both matches.

54' - Malaga equalise through Maxime Gonalons, sending them above Sevilla into 7th, still two points shy of Lyon.

65' - Malaga take the lead through Lucas Vazquez, thus propelling them above Lyon by virtue of a considerably better goal difference.

77' - Yannick Gerhardt looks to haul his side back into contention, pulling Sevilla level at 2-2, which knocks Malaga out of the playoffs and replace by Lyon.

80' - Francis Coquelin is the name that will be chanted in the streets of Malaga as he draws Villa level, dropping Lyon back into 7th, behind Malaga.

90' Full Time. Both matches end in riveting 2-2 draws meaning it's Malaga who have snatched that all important 6th place, and a trip to 3rd placed AS Roma in the playoff semi final. Lyon will feel devastated having lead twice against Villa but hauled back on both occasions, and having spent 45 minutes in total in the playoffs, where as Malaga were there for just 33 minutes, and Sevilla for the remaining 12. It's where you are at the final whistle that counts though, as Malaga found to their joy.

The other notable mention of the final round of division 2 is a Mario Balotelli hattrick for Estudiantes against playoff contenders Flamengo, taking his tally to 22 goals, and ensuring he ends the season as the division top scorer, ahead of Harry Kane (21) and Edison Cavani (20).

Absolutely! You don't win three in a row, and four in five seasons, by being lucky! :)

Reus played an important part and Firmino was part of the Reus deal even though he should have been a Sunderland player.

I don't know. I'd nearly prefer to keep Messi ahead of Ronaldo. That said, I've rarely managed them in SM so maybe Ronaldo is by far the more productuve player in terms of SM.

I'm just basing it purely on the fact that I just prefer Messi in real life! :pac:

Estudiantes de LP outclassed Genoa CFC and beat them 3 - 0 in their Friendly fixture.

Klaassen scored a goal and was later voted Man of the Match for his performance.

Ki and Redmond were also amongst the goalscorers.

Debut goal for Nathan Redmond, and a debut clean sheet for Jack Butland. :)

Said I'd come one here for a look down memory lane I was the manager that won the two titles with real Madrid in season 2 and 3 and I won the div 4 playoffs with Hamburg in season 1 if memory serves me right.
I was also the man that sold Ronaldo to Barcelona in swap for fabregas and Dani alves people thought it was crazy which i agree now it was but I won back to back titles so it justified the craziness I guess.
