Investigative ability of the Insolvency service.

I am reading an article online about a well known irish personality at the moment and something struck me. When a person is forced into bankruptcy over debts of millions, and their construction companies are closed, what investigate powers does the Bankruptcy practioner /ISI have.

For example, the guy has a wage coming from his new high profile "day job", does he have to provide a "P60" or equivalent from the civil service / Dail, or does the ISI serve a writ of some sort?

If yer man has a couple of fancy cars "and forgets to declare one", does the ISI have the power to access motortax / garda records in a search?


What about bank accounts? Ok, the guys businesses are closed and he is allowed to have one working bank account with a nominal sum, but can they literally ask every bank in the country (or europe) "Does this guy have an account and what is the balance" ??

Curious as several big names went under and I would imagine it would be difficult to investigate them.
