I thought he had an Irish accent. Also thought the girl had a small hint of an Irish accent

Yeah, he was definitely Irish.. played by Barry Ward from Blanchardstown.

Jessica Barden (Alyssa) is British though.

Sooo... the end of Dark doesn’t really live up to the build up. It leaves more than half its threads hanging. Presumably for a follow up season? Worth watching anyways.

Finished watching Suburra the Series tonight. Brilliant show, great characters and style. No word on season 2 yet though or if its even been renewed...

The arc of the story means they end up being quite sweet by the end and the unfolding narrative does a good job of explaining how they became the people they are at the beginning of the show.

Thats all well and good, but if a show doesn't grab me early on, I don't persevere with it.

Life's too short for watching a series in the hope its good.

Designated Survivor got one episode before it got the chop.

Wow. You’re missing out on some wonderful stuff. Some of the very best series take half a season to get going. The Wire, west wing, even sopranos. I’d have been the same way but realised you have to hang out with things and give them time to get up to speed. Almost always.

I'm also pretty harsh when it comes to shows but you have to take different things into account. TEOTFW is an 8 episode show, it shouldn't require three episodes to hook its audience, at that length it needs to hit the ground running. I'll usually give a series two episodes to keep me interested, it can be one plotline or even one character, the whole show doesn't have to work. But I didn't get anything from TEOTFW except a sense of confusion as to what others had liked.

Yeah I guess it personal. Loads of stuff I’ve tried with and just can’t get into. Homeland most recently. We don’t have to like everything I spose

I found it annoying. The acting annoyed me, the actors etc.

And I have seen The Wire, The Sopranos and a lot of the West Wing. These shows obviously got my attention quickly.

I've seen this, and wondering what made you find it incredible?

For me, I find it incredible how the US military spends so much money, ruins so many lives (of their own and locals), and achieve next to nothing.

I mean, after watching this documentary, the only thing I could think was "what exactly was all that for? What have they achieved from all that effort?"

To see that little injured girl in her fathers arms after a US airstrike, and they wonder why they are hated?

To see the dead soldier to gain a hill top - really? Pointless.

I have no time for the US military, but fair play to the embedded film makers, that docu took some balls to make.

incredible documentary, in the sense of what you are watching , a film being made showing terrible conflict . right in the heart of the nightmare unfolding

Didn't see anything special about TEOTFW either for what it's worth.

Watching Underground at the moment. Only two episodes in and really enjoying it, for want of a better word.

Watched Katherine Ryan's stand-up show and really liked it. I'm not a comedy fan at all but if you liked Chapelle then I'd say Ryan is worth a look. Similar acerbic wit dealing with touchy subject material.

Dark is a fantastic watch. It's very European in it's style, scenes seem like they're from The Tunnel or the Returned but still very good.

*Reason I say 'but' is because I find a lot of European shows come across quite generic and formulaic(ones I've watched) Like it's it's very similar to the Returned in a lot of ways.

The kid saying ULTIMATE FIST BUMP was the most German thing ever.

I was well in to it after the first few episodes but it gets over complicated with far too many character names to remember.
It was full of loose end, full of clichés & also quite boring.
    Reminded me of Lost.

Rita is a Danish TV comedy/drama series about a woman who is a school teacher, smokes during school and occasionally has sex with the principal. Only saw the first 2 series I think but recall it being good.

I was about to watch DARK soon, but that one line has made me think again.

If I thought it was 1% like Lost, I would forget about it.

Just finished it there - really enjoyed it, although it's not quite as good as 'Gomorrah'.

Since this is a prequel to the film 'Suburra', do I now watch that and risk spoiling the events of any possible second season...

Really enjoying season 2 of the crown.

Do we know at all how much of this is based in fact and how much fictitious/dramatic licence?

Agreed. It takes a bit to get set up. Then by episode 8 I was WTF this is gonna be an amazing payoff!! Then it just completely fizzles out. Leaves almost all of its threads hanging and unanswered and a really really poor set up for a second season. Felt a bit ripped off. Won’t be watching season two if there is one.

I think that's me out so.

I hate this new 'thing' in TV series, especially in final ever shows, where they don't complete it out properly and leave it for you to decide what the hell is going on.

Come on writers, finish a series properly with what you think the ending is. I don't want to have 10 different possibilities.

It's not simply a case of writers not being capable or willing, there's a money issue with trying to get another series commissioned *and* to keep people guessing so they're enticed for another series.

Series 1 of Top of the Lake & Forbrydelsen (The Killing) had definitive endings after stringing you along. Iirc Roseanne & Seinfeld had a definitive ending to those series. The X-Files sort of had a definitive ending to Series 9.

I'm on ep 7 of dark it could be a blank screen for the last three Eps and there's no way I could say the series hasn't been worth my time.

Beautifully shot, incredibly location's, fine actors, great music and an intriguing plot.

Just shows it's all subjective, right? I thought The End of the Fooking World was amazing, actually beautiful to be honest. So good I didn't abbreviate it :) A modern day Bonnie & Clyde for me.

I happened to watch a smallish sci-fi film called Infinity Chamber, and it was reasonably good. It borrows ideas from several other science-fiction films, but pulls them together to serve its purpose. The majority of the film is a chamber piece with Frank in a cell, talking to Howard, his Life Support Officer with whom he interacts solely via a videocamera and speaker/microphone set. As Frank tries to figure out why he's being held, we gradually find out more about him.

    It's not startlingly innovative -
take elements of Moon, Cube, the first half of Oldboy, and any dystopian future scifi you care to name and you have the core ingredients
    - but it's deftly told (bar going a bit exposition heavy in the last couple of minutes) and is quite nicely put together.
