Freaks and Geeks is leaving the Ist of Feb. I'm catching up on it now having not seen it in years. One of those shows which was canned by the networks after the first season before it really got a chance to come into its own... although saying that the show itself is amazing defiantly ahead of its time, never really got the appreciation it deserved when it first aired.

Season 4 was on BBC the tail end of last year, I think it is usually a year after it airs Netflix gets it.

I am only half way through season 3.

If you're REALLY quick, you can still get Series 4 on BBC's iPlayer.

But its gone from 12pm tomorrow!! So you'd need to binge tonight.

Recently rewatched Freaks and Geeks and its still excellent. A pity it was cancelled so quick.

Am I right saying Network 2 showed it here originally or one of the UK channels?

Don't remember if it was ever shown here, I bought the DVDS fifteen years or so back. Very expensive as well, only available on region 1 at the time so had to get them abroad.

Had a thing for Linda Cardellini since :D.

Freaks and Geeks was shown here when it came out on rte2 and repeated again a few years later at night time iirc. Watched it both times.

Check out "Message from the King". dark, bleak and violent, with a great twist to the end.

Watched "The Autopsy of Jane Doe", was good. Few spooky & scary moments in it.

I enjoyed Dave Chappelle's two standup shows - Equanimity and The Bird Revelation. He takes on white liberals, Trump supporters, Hilary Clinton, transgender people, and (in the second episode) Harvey Weinstein and the metoo movement. Despite being a left-leaning liberal himself, Chappelle is not for the easily offended on that side of the political spectrum, but like the best anti-censorship comedians there's a brutal truth at the core of his social criticism. He insists that it is the duty of the comic to be reckless and he certainly is in places. That said, he's a bit defensive about some of these jokes, and at times turns very serious and introspective, a sign of the dangerous line he's walking.

Watched Anthropoid last night, about the assassination of Reinhard Heydrich. Pretty good and seemed faithful enough to the details as I remember them anyway. Didn’t realize Jamie Dornan was in it until saw the credits afterward but he was good and Cillian Murphy was excellent as his plotting sidekick. Worth a watch I would say.

The Man with the Iron Heart is there too, same story. Have seen Anthropoid but I can't remember my thoughts on it, the above is decent enough. Jack O'Connell is very good IMO

There was another film about the same thing added recently. It changed names a few times during production, think it's now The Man with the Iron Heart now.

He's one of the main characters!

Dark is a fantastic watch. It's very European in it's style, scenes seem like they're from The Tunnel or the Returned but still very good.

*Reason I say 'but' is because I find a lot of European shows come across quite generic and formulaic(ones I've watched) Like it's it's very similar to the Returned in a lot of ways.

The kid saying ULTIMATE FIST BUMP was the most German thing ever.

Isn’t it brilliant? It almost feels a bit Tarantino the last few episodes which is no bad thing but as a whole, such a brilliant little series. Loved the two leads. They were outstanding.

i just finished it.... I loved it- and I can't explain why!
It was weird, yet the characters were completely ordinary (ish) - and 20 mins per episode ....is this the way we watch series like this ?It really was compelling viewing.

Just wanna throw in an alternative view point on TEOTFW, I watched the first episode with my housemate and we were absolutely miffed. Unlikeable characters and an annoying narration. Watched the second episode because it was getting such high praise here but nope, I just don't get it. Message ends.

Stick with it. Episode three is where it all kicks off.

Got halfway through Episode 1 of TEOTFW and had to stop, I found it cringeworthy and truly awful. Thats right, 9mins in and I'd had enough.

Could see no way I'd be able to watch any more of those 2 actors, Jez they were annoying to put it mildly.

Maybe I'm not the demographic for it? I can live with that.

The arc of the story means they end up being quite sweet by the end and the unfolding narrative does a good job of explaining how they became the people they are at the beginning of the show.

I enjoyed these shows as well - they feel more like monologues really than comedy shows. It's not really laugh a minute territory but it's interesting to see him ruminate on comedy's - and his - place in the world today.

I finished TEOTFW last night, didn't really enjoy it.

I started watching Raiders!, a documentary about some 11 year olds who started to re-shoot every scene from Raiders of the Lost Ark when it was first released. They did it for the next seven years and did every scene except one so now they're going back and trying to finish it. I haven't finished the show yet but it seems good.

Yeah, there's a big monologue in the second episode with almost no laughs. He's more philosopher and "truth"-teller than comedian.

George Carlin and Bill Hicks did a lot of that in their day too, sometimes it wasn't remotely funny but it was always a good listen.

Yup and he's right too. He kinda makes people question things by making them uncomfortable.

I've only watched the first half of Equanimity but it's really good so far imo.

Loved TEOTFW - but all I could think is that Alex Lawther kid could be Paul Ready's (from Utopia / Motherland) son..

    Excellent actor though..
