    This is... extremely distasteful.

The reaction to the first episode seemed a little bit OTT to me. I, like most, would like to see a more broad range of dates, but tbh I think RTE are just working with what they have. I remember seeing an ad looking for participants and they were crying out for men to take part, meaning not many were applying. If there's not that many applying then they don't have a very broad selection to choose from. Either way though the first episode did get off to an unnecessarily negative start, they could have put one decent date in there, but I'm sure there's lots more to come.

If the people dont exist to make a good show then dont make the show and spend the money on something else

I think it is a good show, and it seems a bit silly to dismiss it on the basis of one poor episode, unless you've felt this way since it started?

I'm guessing I'm not alone in my thinking either, RTE are obviously happy with the viewing figures too, so on that basis I think it'll continue to be made

I'm just following on from your previous point where you were saying that they struggled to get people on and that they didnt have any good dates on it!

If they cant get the people to make the show any good then cancel it and spend the cash elsewhere

There probably under pressure to show more diversity would explain why were not seeing many traditional couples, they ticked nearly ever box the other night, divorced, gay, lesbian, bisexual, race. I'd bet there under orders to make it that way.

Were now seeing the fruits of the training https://m.independent.ie/irish-news/rt-staff-to-undergo-inclusion-and-diversity-training-in-order-to-fully-reflect-irish-society-35421815.html

You're right, they should spend the money on other excellent productions like the Late Late show.

Its not an either or choice though- they could try something new

I don't mind the diverse candidates, but Lord those two young gay guys made me feel old. I wanted to be like narky granny and tell them life occasionally gives you situations where you put up and shut up and just get through it.

someone had said that RTE seek out these eejits, from Vlogs and YouTube etc.
so you can see by virtue of the fact, they are on video already, via social media, one can choose from any long list of logan paul-alikes.

So 180.35 total, with a tip thats 100quid each.

Probably a stupid question but can anyone make out how it cost that much?

And while yer wan was obviously foolish to say lets split it first (worth noting she asked for the bill too, maybe they were finished the meal ages and she was tired of waiting), if his Dad (as he was eager to say) actually has a boat sailing the Pacific he should have just paid up.

I mean for f sake let the girl be wined and dined for once. Personally I would always make sure to at least offer first, never mind when on television all the while putting on a show of wealth.

Scarlet for both, but especially for him. Could do with some more father son time and learn a bit of chivalry.

It's a very expensive place to eat and especially drink, I was weeping buying the rounds there one night.
To me it was just a hotel bar not any way worth the costs, rooms are nice though.

    Equality

    NOUN

The state of being equal, especially in status, rights, or opportunities.

‘an organization aiming to promote racial equality’

Parsimonious as in "Jesus, that woman was very pasimonious, she expected to get a meal for free!"?

    Sure, here you go!
    Parsimonious

    ADJECTIVE

Very unwilling to spend money or use resources.

‘even the parsimonious Joe paid for drinks all round’

I think it was always unisex. Or in the previous season it was.

The two from Athenry had the least Galway accents I’ve ever heard ‘loike’. God I hate teenagers, told the hubby the smallies are going to boarding school if they are like that!

I only got to watch it last night, disappointing imo but then I think anything compared to the English one and the hotel one will be disappointing tbh..I think hottie Fred and the staff are fantastic and hard to beat.

Imo the lads were way too young to be on it and it was wrong to match them because the lad with the "hair" obviously needed a totally different character to deal with him,bit unfair on the other lad I felt and was done more for viewing rather than trying to really make a match.

Similarly with the older lady being matched with the Enda Kenny lookalike..I know that opposites are meant to attract but seriously that was a joke...again all that is my own opinion but they'd want to up the match making skills to make it more interesting .

I agree, most of the time they put the most unmatched people together for ratings.

Caught up with this episode on the Player last night.

Agree completely with the other posters who say the very young couples are mostly a complete waste of time and are not entertaining to watch. Who cares whether an 18 year old gets on or not with another 18-20 year old? They have very little life or dating experience and have nothing to talk about.

The Enda Kenny lookalike and the Dublin woman were at least a lot more watchable. Can't help thinking they were a total mismatch though. She was very loud and flirtatious and wearing a lot of make up and bling whilst he was soft spoken and reserved......seems they just threw two random middle aged people together.
