Peg Board for Mattress

I've recently gotten a new mattress for a queen sized bed which is on a slated base. The slats are about 10 cm wide, but they have gaps of about 8-10cm between them.

As a result I've been advised to get some peg board for the base.
Any recommendations as to where to source Peg Board - as the usual haunts (Woodies etc.) doesn't have any. I know I can get 5mm board and just drill holes, but I'd prefer the proper shopped type....

I found sheets of pegboard at Woodworkers, over near Terenure, about 5 years ago.

The new mattress isn't meant to go on slats, but on a solid base. But I like my bedframe too much to replace it....

Not being funny but never heard that before ever.

Slats are spaced correctly and should have an upward bow to give a mattress support and movement for comfort.

I'm struggling to see how peg board is either safe or required.

Instructions from the manufacturer says the slats can't have a gap of more than 75mm between them.

My bed frame does. So, options are new slats inserted between the old ones, or peg board.

I agree that it seems a bit hard to understand without all the data - so here it is....
"The spring coils are around 50mm in diameter. On a slatted framed bed some springs will be positioned between slats, and therefore have no resistance to them when under pressure (ie, when I'm in the bed). This will lead to increased pressure on the adjacent springs, which will result in issues with the spring structure going forward."

So, now you know.

Does it have to be pegboard, or would a sheet of hardboard do. If so it should be readily available

Pegboard was suggested, due to the ventilation requirements.

Note: a solid base is apparently only solid on the sides - the base part has ventilation for the mattress built in....

I wouldn't have thought pegboard would be strong enough. Maybe use a decent thickness of plywood, say 9mm or more, and drill loads of holes in it yourself?
