And they keep having mothers leaving the country abandoning their family rather than killing them off.

Exactly. And Jo falling for the American plastic surgeon leaving Zoe behind while Ben was having his treatment.
It would have been more believable if Niamh complained of having a headache in Vinos, Paul told her to go home and have a rest, then he returned to find her dead, and it would later be revealed that she died of a brain haemorrhage, or something low key and similar. That would be believable; the Fiji thing is pure BS.

A plane crash that would kill off Carol, Delores, Kerri Ann, Pete, Damien and Paul would be fantastic. Is there any purpose for Paul now Niamh is gone? Hes a waste of space, pure deadwood.

That's what I said before too it really shows how rubbish the Fair City team are

Damien going around shouting "There's nothing I can do Maaaark!" When his brother was saying he should stand up for himself

Ffs he's automatically the child's guardian number one, because of a law change in the last few years and number two this "your not moving away to Munich with with me daaaaaughter!" is rubbish along with Caoimhes and Tommy's "Well I'm her MOTHER"

All he has to do is walk into a solicitor and a judge will grant an order making it a crime for Caoimhe to take the child out of the country without the express permission of Damien agreeing to it whether for a holiday or long term. If she took off to Munich all he has to do is go to the cops and they contact the German Polizi who will have Caoimhe and the child in custody and on the first place back to ireland before Carol even finishes a box of 20 Major

Not quite right, a child cannot be taken out of the country without the permission of both parents or guardians. However in the event one parent objects a judge may grant an order allowing the relocation.

Caoimhe would need submit a relocation order request and show the judge and he or she would need to agree, that the relocation is in the best interests of the welfare of the child. If the judge rejects her case then if she does take the child out of the country against a court order, she is breaking the law. It's a tricky and difficult area of family law and something that is becoming more and more a feature in the courts due to the changes in Irish families.

Juliet who is 15 sitting beside her father at a christmas party in the house of the pregnant woman he had an affair with asking him if he used protection.

I'd say that scenario happens a lot in real life all right.

As for Melanie, barely 5 minutes ago she was hoping Mondo would drop dead in the street and at the same party decides everything is forgiven and is all over him like a rash.

I'm looking forward to seeing what happens with Abi and Lauren in EE. The aftermath of Max's madness. At least there is something going on there. Fair City is really boring. Does someone in the script writers room take a note at random out of a hat and decide the story that way? I hoped that the fate of Ciaran would be revealed this christmas. Nothing.

She must have put something else in Mondo's selection box!

How on earth do they expect us to believe that Niamh is suffering from chronic amnesia and forgets her child, Ruthie at christmas ??????????????????

I thought Pete - after he was more or less given the all clear and was sitting up in bed in his nice cosy private bed ward - was just a red herring, that Doug would be the real casualty. But..... Nothing..... It went nowhere, apart from a few ambiguous threats... And Emmet has suffered no consequences; have they forgotten that part - it was heavily implied that Oakley would pick off Miriam's supporters one by one and discredit them making her look an idiot, or worse, a facilitator for bad behaviour.
And re the keys thing? Why didn't Damian show the guards the envelope and the note the keys arrived in and with? Wasn't that the whole point of Oakley stealing them from Miriam's bag and sticking them through the letterbox? But nothing, as per usual.... There are so many ways - were it a serious soap - that this story could have been developed, but like the PLAN it has descended into farce.... And why did Emmet face no consequences, when it was implied that he would, as it seems Oakley's aim to undermine Miriam out of revenge in order that he get back what power he lost to her? Then again FC doesn't do these type of plots very well. The Katy/Ciaran thing was interesting for about three minutes, the PLAN was basically nonsensical.... Dermot's miraculous recovery from liver cancer..... God! There are so many storylines that could have had a quick or poignant ending but became comical instead.

The biggest shock for me in all this is the Quack in the crombie, the gaffer at the Phoenix Way actually works in the hospital. He gives me the creeps, a bit like Peter Cushing's long lost relative.

I was thinking the same re: Melanie. Her character is feisty and wouldn't just go back to Mondo after he cheated on her, but I suppose they needed to change her character to fit into their pre planned Christmas episode.

Even Kerri Anne's walk drives me mad. It's like she has a book on her head.

Niamh's exit should have been, IMO, played out like this. First of all (much as I love them, no leaks, no spoilers, so her death would actually have a bit of an impact)

The scene as I would have liked to see it:

Oisin and Niamh are having yet another argument in Vinos as he tries to sabotage dean again. Paul overhears, and tells Oisin to give it a rest, who walks away, leaving a sarky comment as a parking shot.

Niamh: ''I can't do this, Paul; he has to go - we'll have no customers, let alone a chef left if you keep letting him having his own way all the time!''

She grabs her handbag and roots around.

    Niamh: ''Damn it!''
    Paul: ''Have you lost something?''
''My phone - ''I need to find it, that new supplier has being giving us the run around'' --
    She rubs her head.
Paul puts his arm around her.
''You've being overdoing things love. Why don't you go home, put your feet up and relax for a bit.''
''So you can let Oisin ''---
''You're exhausted, love; I'll handle Oisin.''
''Niamh: ''I wish that was true!''
    Niamh sighs.
''I'm sorry Paul, look, maybe you're right. I do have a splitting headache and I could do with catching up with that boxset Orla gave me..''
She grabs her coat and bag, kisses Paul on the cheek.
Paul: ''See you at home love.''

Later Paul arrives in, TV on and Niamh appears to be asleep on the sofa.
He turns the TV off then goes to wake her.

Paul: ''Niamh'' (at this stage he's not too concerned) ''Niamh! Niamh wake up!'' (as he shakes her)
    He panics as she's unresponsive.
Paul: ''Niamh! Niamh! Wake up love! Niamh!' (Knowing she's beyond help, he cradles her and cries, still unacccepting and begging for her to wake up.''

    Cuts to credits.

"if you've been affected by any of the issues tonight call this number"

    What issues

Mondo is some tool! He has the beautiful melanie throwing herself at him and he goes and ruins it, the SAP!

Who in Ireland gets a scan at 7 weeks on the 27th December?? No referral from a GP whose practice is still shut except for emergencies. Total p*ss take, the writers must think we all gob****es

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 6,743 ✭✭✭Wanderer2010

Decco must be a compete and utter idiot not to see whats going on under his nose- Kerri Ann is always snapping the head off him, and only changes when Mondo appears in shot, then she always has these secret conversations and coffees with Mondo and goes out of her way to see her and yet he STILL cant twig anything? Idiot, when all this is revealed I have no sympathy for him.

Aww...looks like Fair City lost its nerve with the cult storyline, it could have been so much darker if they burrowed even deeper into Emmet or Hannahs mind and convinced them to kill Oakley or members from his former Phoenix Way, instead it looks like they will be run out of town by Pete and Tommy, which is weak.

I wont judge just yet but unless Manson pulls something major out of the bag and soon, then the storyline has really ground to a halt.

P.S I like the way Manson is still recruiting though. but with Carol she got nowhere ha ha.

I spent this morning ringing various surgeries trying to get a GP appointment for my son - Everyone near me is closed until 2nd and anywhere I found open had absolutely no appointments left. Yet the FC writers are telling us that an obstetrician's consulting rooms were open today :mad:

And as for that stupid notice at the end...If you have been affected by any of the issues :confused:
What issues - my OH has run off with a smarmy, bad suit wearing hotel owner but only after she took all my money and made it disappear like Houdini's handbag.
Oh no wait, my son/daughter/husband/whatever is involved with a weird crowd who take off their shoes, sit around a table in the house up the road chanting and beating the neighbours up.

    Seriously :mad::mad::mad:

Bit disappointed with the Christmas episode. No huge drama just lots of repetition. Hayley and Paul, more Damo fighting for his daughter, the cult, Mondo being a bit thick, Greasy Aoife Caddle triangle.

I missed an auld sing song from Leo though.

I hope Dr Oakley murders or gets murdered Pete at least!

It's gas the way the keys to the Phoenix Way are just left lying about, why would Miriam or Oky have them anyway?

Would the "affecting issues" not have been Eoghan saying he wanted to die?

The message at the end was the funniest thing, I was like

I was thinking the issues might have being people who had an unplanned pregnancy due to sleeping around with your ex who became your current husbands best friend and you having a dilemma about who's the daddy whilst waddling around in a mini skirt and a woolly bobble hat!

We never really seen anyone sitting around having Christmas dinner, did we? ... Everyone seemed to be in the community center.

Did little Ruthie spend Christmas without any parent, Rachel in Spain, was Oisin in Mallow and Callum with Jane?

Spar doesn't really sell turkeys so no product placement of Orla waddling in on Christmas morning to buy a turkey.

I think most the cast were in The Spar Christmas morning, no one was in their own home having Christmas dinner.
