    Feckin cringe.

It’s even worse when the presents are kind of underwhelming. I read what can only be described as an Oscars thank you speech earlier on from a guy gushing about the gifts his girlfriend got him.
I assumed she got him a fortnight in Cancun or maybe a new Land Rover he was that thankful, but the accompanying picture had some socks, a PlayStation game and a book about golf in it.

People who say "amount of" when "number of" is correct.

    Amount v. Number

People who say "begs the question" and it's clear they think it means "poses the question". It doesn't.

People writing on the internet who use the words "seen" and "done" incorrectly. Sorry, but if they haven't the work ethic to find out how to use those two common words properly, it's probable that their view hasn't much thought and reflection put into it either.

People who don't know when to use... and when to use....

And so very many other misuses of words and punctuation.

Before Christmas we were being asked to donate our Irish Water cheques to charity, now we're being asked donate our unwanted gifts for charity.
I already donate and will continue to decide how and when I donate to charity. Sick of them trying to make people feel guilty, can they not leave it, even for one day!

The number of ancient threads being resurrected in the last few days. Whats that all about?

People's needs never end, the truth being, we actually have enough for everyone on this planet, we have just chosen not to share it equally

This! I had the guilt trip put on me the other day cos I wouldn't sign up to that Juan Mata charity where you donate 1% of your salary monthly.

I worked out I already donate 11 euro a month MORE than the 1% but because I wouldn't donate to Temple Street I'm evil !!!

Unfortunately since we have chosen not to share wealth more evenly, questionable tactics such as guilt are being employed to fill the voids it creates. Please keep giving to your preferred charities, and feel no shame or guilt for not giving to others

    +1

Apparently to my colleagues, the Guide Dogs, Donkey Sanctuary of Ireland, Autism Ireland, Animals Asia and the mule I've had adopted for 30 years "don't count really".

Surely there's a joke in there somewhere, but my autistic, dyslexic brain couldn't be arsed. Fair play to you

Nah I just generally prefer animals to people but a good friend has a son with autism so I'll always help them.

I don't want my hard earned cash to fund a charities ceo's company car.
Myself and my wife gave the cash we'd usually spend on eachother to the Santa Strike Force. 100% goes to good causes all over the country.

Mamas and Papas and the other travel cot makers. Is it beyond the creative genius of their travel cot designers to make it possible to open a little hole in the bottom to hold the leanbh's hand as you lie on the floor next to them? Travel implies that the baby is going somewhere out of the routine and they might need a little bit more reassurance when they go to sleep in a strange room. Do these people do any research!

And how in the name of Jesus do all those homeless families with young children live in the one room? One baby cries, and the rest are woken up and chaos goes through the night. Bad enough having to do that for a night or two during Christmas away from home but every night? Poor, poor families.

unfortunately, not particularly nice human traits have infiltrated even the charity sector, but its probably a good idea not to tar everyone with the same brush!

Coming down with a bug that leaves your tummy muscles ripped apart on Christmas evening, spending the next 12 hours experiencing absolute misery, then watching the rest of the family fall one by one.

Even worse when you're pretty sure you're the one who brought it into the house. :(

And it's not even over yet.
