Watched 'Volcano' last night. I saw it in the cinema as a youngster at the time. The CGI has held up okay in fairness and Tommy Lee Jones puts in a solid enough performance. Enjoyable nonsense if you can switch your brain off for a while. Also my man Bunny Colvin pops up alongside Don Cheadle.

Also watched The Longest Yard. Worth a look especially if you haven't seen the original or Mean Machine. It has an unreal cast too!

Eh? I haven't had a star system on Netflix in months. Is it not all Facebook style thumbs now?

Fairly sure the star system was telling you how suited it was to you personally, based on the films you watched - rather than an overall rating.

Sounds about typical for a Max Landis script then!

Fauda was excellent from start to finish. Had it recommended on here earlier and have to say if you have no problem with sub titles it 100% I much prefer the International stuff on Netflix. El Marginal another good one

El Marginal is excellent! One of the finds of 2017 thanks to someone posting about it here.

Not a fan of Max Landis but some of the bad reviews are very wtf. Saw one slate the film and open with a line saying it was so bad that Republicans could pass a law based on it. The writer then went on to talk about how the production company Trigger Warning is the wrong on to make a film about racial inequality in America. I'm expecting a decent bit of spectacle in an Alien Nation lite film. Honestly, long as it has a couple of decent ideas, some decent set pieces and isn't a barrage of cheap CGI then it's already ahead of the curve when it comes to what blockbuster cinema has become.

Managed to catch an episode of the second season of the Crown while the missus watched it. I'm surprised that it's probably made me despise the British monarchy even more. What a bunch of pricks - especially the Queen Mother.

Watched an episode of Marcella - not sure I'll continue with it - Anna Friel has the most distracting trout pout in it.

Watched the first season of Line of Duty based on all the positive comments on here and really enjoyed it. Are the 2nd and 3rd seasons just as good?

YES from me! even better than the first, Keeley Hawes is class in them (4th was a wee bit of a dip in quality but still excellent)

Of the few I've watched the past while:

    Stranger Things 2
It wasn't as good as the first one, that's for sure. Definitely felt like there was filler going on at times with new characters added that didn't add much. In saying that, I still really enjoyed it. It still looks great, the music is great and the overall feeling of the show makes for entertaining viewing imo. I thought some of the kids stepped up another level with their acting in this series. Will and Mike really shone I thought.

    Mindhunter
I thought this was really good for the first half of the series in particular. Very well shot, as you'd expect with David Fincher and very atmospheric, with the music playing a big part. There was great chemistry between the two leads aswell. Overall I found it a really good show but the series tailed off a bit in the second half for me.

    Dark

I thought this was excellent. Really strong achievement by all involved on this one. I would say, the best series I've seen in a long time. Could not recommend it highly enough.

Watched that el Camino xmas movie last night.

Didn't find it great, all a bit silly.

Yeah, That's the one. It is still entertaining though only because the story has so many inconstancies.

Yeah Hawes is awesome in this,. Most would agree season one is the weakest of the first three, so poster definitely in for a treat when it comes to next few seasons.

The ending of season 3 is incredibly silly, but so entertaining and well earned. :)

I wasn't a fan either. Not much actually happens, and the dialogue/story isn't clever enough to make up for it.

Oh well, give me an easy life and a peaceful death.
