Dunno dude - I'm just running stock. Presume your Play Store is up-to-date with all other updates and you've no fancy regional hacks or proxies running? Only guessing though?

Play Store version is "8.4.40.V-all [0] [PR] 176415973"

    Play services version "11.9.51 (440-177350961)"

My Play Store version is 8.4.19 but it says it's up to date!

I downloaded a SafetyNet checker, and I'm definitely failing the test, but can't figure out why!

Maybe when Beta 2 comes out, the flash will fix it! I might just reflash Beta 1 later. I think I may have installed TWRP as a system app, that might have caused the issue :D

What would be a fair price for it if I sell it?
I'm thinking €450 but not sure.

    Is it the 64gb?

It will still go to the buyer with the remainder of the warranty. Not sure I would pay 450 for it, someone might though. Somewhere between 400 and 450 would be about right IMHO

I hadn't set it up but it seems to get stuck at a "please wait" screen with a spinner going around and around and ...

    Something broken with it anyway!

Did you reset the phone before sending or they reset the phone during the repair?

I am sending my phone for USB port repair. Dont really want to reset my phone.

I couldn't do anything with my phone as the screen wasn't working but they do wipe the phone completely because of data protection.
Back up as much as you can!

I have a USB C otg cable (cheapy from AliExpress - not the official one) - very handy for plugging in a mouse/keyboard if touch screen not working. Probably wouldn't have helped on your case as I'm guessing your screen was completely dead.

    They'll reset the phone.

Well my phone arrived back today so I stuck it up on adverts.ie.
Got a few offers straight away near enough to but not quite what I'll accept.
    So we'll see.

Just had a look at the advert there. Fair play to you for being honest about the replacement screen.

Honesty is probably my biggest downfall!!:pac:

Nonsense, it'd be worse if you tried to sell it with a broken screen :D

At least people know that the screen is working now, shouldn't de-value the device at all in my eyes :)

People trying to get it cheaper because of the screen when the fact of the matter is, it's got a newer screen on it now than when I bought it!:D

A lad offered me 420 while he is selling his 5 for 475.

Maybe see what price cex will give for it? It's not listed on their website yet you'll have to send them a msg online or walk in to a shop. I wouldn't mention the repair.

I've got rid of my last 2 phones with them and took a little less cash to spare dealing with dopes on adverts and donedeal.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 11,768 ✭✭✭✭blade1

Ah I'm in no panic to sell.
If someone doesn't want to pay what I'll accept it won't bother me.
They can take it or leave it.

    Cex have it listed alright!
They only offer €330 at the time of writing.
Little low considering the want to sell it for €600 :P :pac:

    https://ie.webuy.com/product.php?sku=SONEPLU5128GMBUNLA

€408 voucher, if that's your thing!

Don't talk to me about cex - lots of second hand phones there for more than you'd buy new on Amazon!

Looks like the 5 not the 5t? Cash price could be closer to 400 and then it's possibly a consideration.

I don't understand the economics of it either to be honest but it's suited me a few times now as a seller. I 'upgraded' my 64gb u11 to the 128gb variant which was on sale direct from htc during back Friday for 584. Cex gave me 434 cash. A few days later i went back with my brother in laws oneplus 2 and got 140 cash for it and noticed my original u11 sitting in the window for 700!
