I've dimmers and never use them. Sensors and Echos do everything.

I will be putting dimmers in bother spare bedrooms though.
Cheers for the feedback. I won't bother cancelling so. Have to kind of agree on the dimmer being pointless when you use Alexa.

Obviously it depends on your needs. We don't use the dimmers much, but they are a most for when grandparents, babysitters, etc. are around.

Actually even in some rooms, it is just easier to switch on the light at the dimmer as you walk in the door, rather then use voice. Mostly rooms not suitable for motion sensors.

Here is how lights normally get turned on in each room:
    - Living Room - Sunset routine
    - Hall/Bathrooms/Utility Room - Motion Sensors
    - Bedrooms - Hue Dimmer switch

Hue colour GU10’s are £42.40 on Amazon U.K., and are part of the 3 for 2 deal, meaning you get 3 colour GU10’s for £84.80 - £28.27 per bulb!!

They could have done that last year when I bought bloody 10 of them for £50 each!!

    I'm going to say no.
The six bulbs can be picked up for 50£ on Maplins or amazon with the double packs on 3 for 2. So then 70£ for a dimmer and hub doesn't seem that great.

I'm working that out at £96 on Amazon UK with free delivery ? So would be a good deal at that price in my opinion.

6 bulbs for £50 via the 3for2 link

Believe me, You'll be glad you bought the dimmer. I have Echo's and Google's all around the house. But when you want to switch that Light on when your tv is blasting away or HiFi is blasting out the tunes, You'll remember this post.

Amazon Echo Dot - reduced from £49.99 to £35 today.
Bummer as I ordered 2 of these yesterday, and they no longer seem to have the "refund the difference" option. Managed to cancel order just before despatch, and re-order at new price.

NB - only in stock from 17th Dec, so I paid the £6 delivery to try and ensure Christmas delivery. Just a pressie for myself, hoping it will persuade my OH to let me invest in lots of smart gadgetry!

Have to say I'm thinking or ordering a bunch of Nest Protects from Maplin UK. From Adverts.ie it seems the Google Mini's (free with the Nest Protect) will fetch €50 so it makes the Protects much more affordable. Maplin also doing a £10 voucher for spending £80 although not sure would I actually use the voucher after the 25th (when it's available to use). Besides the fact that the £10 voucher will be diminished through Parcel Motel fees as I'd need to put through 5 separate orders to get 5 vouchers etc....

No, I mean €123.28 because that’s that actual cost to an Irish consumer in their local currency. You know, the information they actual care about. Not just toting up the prices on a few disparate product pages with promised promotions, but the actual price at checkout that will help others make a decision on whether to buy or not without having to figure the rest out themselves. You’re welcome. No need to be a douchbag.

Brian quite frankly your the one be who is being rude, Andy is one of the most helpful posters in this forum.

How do you know the OP needs the items delivered to Ireland? Maybe they use Parcel Motel for their deliveries, maybe they have Revolut and pay in Sterling?

For me to get the above delivered it is €107 + €3.50

No one here is trying to be a douchebag, we are all helping each other out. So calm down.

£96 becoming €123! You really need to change your currency converter then! only €115.81 for me if bought in Euro (checkout price), €111.58 if bought in Sterling (checkout price).

I’d like to say thank you to the guy who posted about the prices and also to the guy who clarified things, this will make a lovely gift this Christmas. I thought I’d post the information that was missing when I went to purchase so others would know it up-front. I’ve absolutely no idea what you contributed with your sterling question (pun intended). It wasn’t smart or bright (pun intended). I’ll refrain from posting again.

You posted wrong information.96 sterling costs me €108.53. Thats a big diference to what you said. What you did make clear was that some people pay way too much for currency exchange.

I suggest always using your bank's currency exchange i.e. pay in GBP. Don't use Amazon's currency exchange.

Or Revolut seems even better when paying in sterling.

I don't think the show2pack is working on the £129 price.

Thanks for the tipoff, I both 2 last week. Contacted Amazon this morning and got the £40 refund.

Sorry off topic - You got lucky ! They used to be so good at refunding you the difference if the price dropped with in the return period but lately I have had to return items and buy them again to get the reduced price

Not a bad price but the reduction isn't as big as their £299 RRP suggests. It's been sold at £132 for most the year.
