Saw a tweet that Saracens v Clermont is postponed, think due to snow.

I would be stunned if Saracens were forced to forfeit rather than a replay being arranged.

    Good football on today ;)

90% of football matches on TV put me to sleep.. I'll watch it if somebody puts it on and I even go to games a few times a year but I rarely choose to put it on TV.

Home team unable to provide a suitable playing surface, should be an automatic win for Clermont no?

No. Replayed later. It’s not the surface it’s the surrounding areas and safety of supporters, players and everybody in getting to and from the stadium

Not a chance, game will have to be played

London is in chaos. Trains not running, road accidents all over the place.

Sorry but that's ridiculous, game will be replayed as is normal practice

I also think the game should be replayed. But didn't Stade force a forfeit from some Romanian team last year for not having a playable pitch.

Are Ulster not playing in London too?

Yeah, sad to say but this will not be treated the same though, even if it is the pitch that's unplayable rather than just difficulty getting to/from the stadium for supporters. This is a match between the reigning champions and last year's finalist, not a minnow & a French side in the challenge cup.

Not sure the current rules. Under thebold Heineken cup the rule was that the host side could rearrange games up til the end of the Monday of the weekend.

    Scarlets
Really looking forward to this La Rochelle and wasps. To really attacking sides so expect plenty of running rugby.

Cipriani doing what he does. Kick charged down under no pressure, LaRochelle try.

Imagine the forum is mostly watching Ulster, but La Rochelle at home is just top notch rugby. Pace & precision. Reckon they can go far.

5 tries in 25 minutes. Living up to its billing. La Rochelle look like scoring every time they are in wasps half

Crazy that an artificial pitch doesn't have underground heating. Even all the grass pitches should have it at this stage.

Btw - I think I might have to lend my old yellow 2.99 ball to the Ulster - Quins game.

It doesn't need underground heating, underground heating is to stop a pitch freezing. The pitch isn't frozen and they could scrape all the snow off it easily. The match is cancelled because there's a safety issue with getting fans in and out of the ground.

As much to do with road conditions and travelling fans as it is to do with the ground itself.

I’ve worked at plenty of matches and the main concern is the roads leading to the stadium. 9 times out of 10 it will be the local emergency services that will advise that its best to postpone the game and the home team will go along with the suggestion.

The pitch can withstand temperatures of up to -20 degrees so heating is not an issue

I've never seen a NH side play such a NZ Super Rugby style of rugby. Whether they have the nous to negotiate the knockouts and whether they have the defence and the pack for really tight games I don't know, but they are super enjoyable to watch. They have some athletic forwards and some slippery backs.
