    Hi there,

I am moving to Letterkenny in January and have been told to stay away from Long Lane completely as it is known to be an 'unsafe' area. However, I have found a house to rent in An Gleann Rua which I like a lot. Is this area safe even though it's close to Long Lane??

    Thanks

It would be fine in my opinion. It is up towards the end of the Long Lane.

Most of the bad areas are in the more established estates nearer the town.

It's not even that bad anyway. If you can see the area in person before-hand will give you a good idea (e.g. some parts of it have boarded up windows, abandoned cars, etc). Doesn't apply to Gleann Rua.

That's good to know, thanks a lot for your response. I have confirmed the rental for the coming year.
