Has anyone actually received their order yet? I'm away from 18th Dec so need to receive before then. If I hear nothing by end of next week I'm cancelling.

Any idea what the warranty is from Argos for this?

Argos has been bought by Sainsbury's and as a new policy, they refuse to offer any warranty support even on the day of purchase. They tell you they aren't allowed to do refunds, repairs or replacements on faulty products and to go to the manufacturer.

Not my recent experience anyway, does that even comply with consumer law?

No, it doesn't. It might only apply to electrical goods and I can think they can do refunds if there is no problem but they told me staff aren't allowed deal with faulty products. That was ~3 months ago, they also may have changed it back, there were a good few people complaining about them.

They'll direct you to the manufacturer and you'll have to arrange collection by the manufacturer or post it to them. They won't take it in and bring it to the manufacturer themselves.

This is on their UK website:

"CAN I RETURN MY ITEM IF THERE'S SOMETHING WRONG WITH IT?
First, we recommend you check our support site to see if we can solve your issue and save you the trouble of returning your item.
Then, if you’re still having problems, try this…

If you’ve had it for over 30 days but less than 1 year:
We’ll assess what’s wrong and then we’ll usually:
    arrange a free repair
    or send round an engineer
    or offer you a refund"

I'd be disappointed if they've moved to a less tolerant policy as it's always been one of the main attractions.

I was disappointed at the time too, IMO they went from the best customer service in retail to the worst overnight. Their new policy wasn't in line with Irish law though and it was very unpopular, a boards search may turn up some results. So they may have started complying with Irish law again, I'm not sure, all I know is the new owners didn't want to be dealing with returns so they were told not to.

How could it ever have been the case that they, while operating here, did not comply with Irish law ?

I just had a look at the email from littlewoods at the time of order and it clearly says in the information box that it will be delivered by 13.12.17 as they are awaiting stock.
Have a look at your emails

Maybe yours does, mine does not.

Amazingly I got a call from a courier, not Littlewoods, a few minutes ago saying he will be delivering the TV this morning. I guess maybe they did ship them after all.

How long ago did you get the call? Is it fastway?

There's the odd thing - three different stories from three different LW Customer Advisers, including three delivery dates, two different carriers, one UPI (and a partridge in a....)

ArrowXL couriers who supposedly hand things over to Fastway for ROI deliveries assure me that they handed over the package on 21st as my account states and to allow 10 working days for delivery which would be by next Tuesday (5th)

My issue is not with the delay but with not getting a straight or honest answer

@MoyVilla9 - When was your order placed?

About 40 minutes ago. I didn't ask what company it was, but he said he is in a blue van if that helps. Fastway is white, I think?

Exactly, the delay is not the problem. The no straight answer is the issue.
I ordered it on the 14th of November.

This. I just lost any confidence in them as a company. The savings was in no way worth the grief of dealing with their incompetence/lies, as someone pointed out, can you imagine if you have an issue with the set and need warranty? I jumped ship, have an excellent Samsung and am happy I did (though would have liked to see Ambilight in action)

Happy days for anyone who gets their TV's in the next day or two.

They've moved the price up to €720 now on the ambilight 50" philips.
If it arrives for those who got in at €485 then that is a good deal I think

There is no punishment for the law they are not following. You can take them to court for not following it and they will be ordered to follow it in your case but are still free to ignore it the rest of the time. There is a forum on boards, consumer issues or something like that, if you have a look at almost all of the posts on it are companies not following the supply of good and services act.

Had anyone checked the customer service from Littlewoods, check their Facebook page if unclear, if something goes wrong, they don't wanna know, I speak from experience. Be warned.

I wish ye listened, they are a disgusting outfit.

It did! Just finished setting it up. So far I'm very impressed by it. The ambilight looks fantastic.

Yes, even after getting the TV in (so far) perfect working order it's the first and last time I will be buying anything from Littlewoods.

Question for anyone with an ambilight TV. My TV is in the corner of the room so about 5 inches to the left of it is a wall, would this be bothersome for the ambilight effect or distracting having all the light on that side shining on a wall?

Just wanted to pass back my feelings on the 55pus6272 after having it for a few weeks:

    PROS:

Picture is fantastic! (yes you will want to play with the settings and out of the box it's over pushing on EVERYTHING! Brightness, contrast and colour all at nuts levels but ajust and it's amazing.

4K when you get it working is as huge jump but having said that a 1080P signal looks out of the world too so your HD still will be mega!

Ambilight is amazing! If you are new to it then it WILL blow you away, if your like me and had a few TV's with it, well it's still amazing and well worth it.

    CONS:

All this talk of HDR but no setting to ajust or even turn on/off.... ?

Sound is not that good compared to what I had in my 10 year old Philips TV.
As I have a HT amp it's fine for background stuff but if I'm watching TV I will deffo be using the amp. In short, a sound bar is needed at least!

Sorry to say the built in apps need work. With sound coming before the picture in YouTube, Netflix and Amazon apps it makes using them a pain. It can very from app to app but in all of them the sound is out a little with no way to fix.. When in the 'Smart' side of the TV you don't get all the controls you get when using the main Dumb parts of it.
...In short, I have found the best way to use Netflix with it is to use a chromecast as your still in the Dumb side of the TV and can ajust all the picture and sound settings to match and you still get the internet stuff.

Be warned: Sometime even using any other sound setting than 'Stereo' can knock the sound out even when watching TV, a restart sorts tho.

Philips are aware and have been pushing out firmware updates that while have helped but really they need to do more to get all the kinks worked out. Best way to help is to sound off in the Philips TV forums where they are a lot of unhappy people.
