With the formation decided, Bandylegs falls into line with Ekbard and begins to ascend the stairs, testing each one before he moves onto the step.

'In the afterlife, there be traps a plenty folks. We've already encountered two, including the poison dart. Be on the lookout.'

'A little bit, aye. Those statues brought back a horrible nightmare where they came alive and tried to kill me.'

The party climbs the stairs and enters the Narthex of an incredibly ancient church. The architecture suggests to BandyLegs an age of 500 years, from the time of Tumuz.

Both Moy and Othegre understand the iconography on the walls of the narthex to be those of demon worship: lidless eyes, gnashing worms.

One side of the narthex has a door which leads deeper into the church. The other side consists of three massive steel doors with eight sets of locks each and magical symbols over the locks.

BandyLegs can see the heat of the Sun on the steel doors, indicating that they lead outside.

'Which way now? I don't think we can break the door yonder down. Which leaves... that way. It leads outside, that's all I can get for now. I can feel the Sun's heat.'

Bandylegs curiosity gets the better of him and he edges towards the door without the locks, stopping to look around him for signs of danger.

/Checks for supersekret doors or panels that might reveal a releasing mechanism to the locked doors.

    I'm older than Minecraft goats.

'Only one way to find out laddie.'

Bandylegs approaches the door and tentatively tries to open it.

Othegre approaches the steel doors, wary of any possible traps, and examines the locks. She's no stranger to arcane machinery...

Ooc : any benefit to a +2 in magical engineering?

Saeros can tell that the locks that release these doors are divine, possessed only by a Cleric of the churches faith. Further more, he is dimly aware using his elven connection with the magical fabric of the world, that such the head cleric of this church is still alive.

There seem to be no secret doors.

OOC: Yes, roll Intelligence, +2 to Target from skill and -1 from result as you are a Cleric.

OOC: Sorry yes. There are the steel doors to outside, the door to deeper into the church and then a separate entrance from the stair. Molly's map is accurate.

The main church nave is behind the the door.

10 rows of two pews per row proceed up the center of the nave toward the altar above which hangs a massive picture of Soet in his older form of a dark shadow.

Four pictures hang on the left wall of the nave and four hang on the right.

Two small booths are located near the alter.

On either side of the altar are two closed doors.

A lantern swings from the ceiling, below which is a man in a robe chanting.

OOC: It's a good fit, -1 to roll not the target.
