I'm trying to think of the last inter county footballer who made it as a TD: Barney Rock, John O'Leary and Greham Geraghty all died on their arse in elections

None of them had Michael Ring's surplus!

Looks like Fine Gael are still looking to the sporting arena in their quest to land a credible Castlebar based candidate after Andy Moran ruled himself out.

Never knew Alan Dillon was from Ballyheane, proud Ballintubber man that he is!!Ditto his involvement in the party.Bit of competition for Lisa Chambers.

A Breaffy man that got away.

Michelle will be a lot more bothered than Lisa.
2 party County and it'll be 2 all unless one of the parties / candidates shoot themselves in the foot.

He would need around 8,000 or so to beat chambers. Over 4,000 season ticket holders, say 3,000 regulars and a few transfers from Kenny and ring and he's in :D

Us season ticket holders aren’t all Fine Gael fans!! Much as Alan has been a great Mayo player, he won’t be getting my vote!

Sufferin' succotash....this place is hopping at the best of times. Imagine how....ahem...lively it would be, if one of yer lot ran for public office?

FG in Mayo have been good at vote management. That was easier when "A Mayo Taoiseach" was the slogan.

Michael Ring has garnered a great vote over the years, ever since he started as an Urban Councillor. Much of his vote is personal. He has good support throughout the west and south of Mayo, including Claremorris area. He has long had support of some prominent FG councillors, He may consider Dillon too close to him geographically for vote sharing.

While Mayo has a tradition of electing prominent footballers e.g. Henry Kenny, Sean Flanagan, etc. it may not be easy for a new boy to break in.

FF have a young energetic TD, Lisa Chambers. I think she will hold her vote.

    Interesting times.

Ah I was only jesting that they're both apparently from Ballyheane.

Yes it'll be the usual two two split,Michelle need'nt worry about getting a vote from me!

Lisa Chambers has performed very well on her first time out in the Dáil,I've no doubt she'll retain her seat with a probable increase in her vote.

What forum are we on again?:)

I wouldn`t see him doing much damage to the Lisa Chambers vote.
Michelle Mulherin is more likely to lose votes to him, as votes, even for GAA stars, rarely cross party lines.
Then again Michelle Mulherin may not even get a nomination if he does run for fear of splitting the Fine Gael vote to thinly.

Carnacon v Mourne Abbey (Parnell Park) is live on TG4 at 3.45 tomorrow.

Carnacon are going for a phenomenal sixth title!

Another title would be a fitting tribute to Cora who jets off to the land of Oz on Tuesday morning.

Soon to be the Wizard ( apparently the female version of Wizard is Witch which doesn’t seem as nice somehow ) of Oz .

Carnacon 0-7 Mourne Abbey 0-4 HT

Carnacon have squandered quite a few decent opportunities.

Referee is making an absoulte hames of the game. Centre of attention.

No different from the mens game in that aspect it seems.

Great win for Carnacon, well deserved.By some distance the better side before the flurry of yellow cards.Missed the original one but the referee made the right call on all the others.

Cora mixed the exquisite with the awful,Fiona McHale was immense ditto Martha Carter.

Anyone know where you can buy those 1950s-style Mayo jerseys I've been seeing round the last few summers? I presume they're not well-preserved originals!:p

Mayo set to breach GAA rules with April training camp.

Shame retro GAA is gone, they made some nice replicas of old shirts.

They were making the jerseys themselves? Well, that would explain why they don't seem to be available anywhere else. I suppose you can work wonders with 3D printers and such...
