Great! Thanks... I didn't have the car seats with me yesterday and will be a few weeks before I get a chance to get back in to test it myself.
But I may have just found my next car! :D

My mrs made me take them with me and fit them all correctly, had to send her the pics. These are big seats the 2 outside one's take up most of the back seat of my 5 series, not a hope of fitting a 3rd in there even a boosterseat, peugeot managed them all without a problem....Here you go it'll save you lugging in and out the child seats....

I love the look of the 5008 and hate the look of any MPV I've ever seen, so I was excited when the new 5008 was announced, but after seeing the middle row in person yesterday, I'm begining to wonder. I wouldn't want to have to use the back row all the time.

Has anyone actually tested putting 3 child seats in the middle?

Only way is to take put in your seats. Child seats vary in size and also may not be isofix!

    Great stuff! Thanks.
My car seats are probably even slightly smaller than those so shouldn't be a problem at all!

All the seats slide individually so regardless of what size car seat you have you'll fit 3 no problem.

Now you've to pick an engine and trim, best of luck with that:D

I'm waiting until a few more petrols come up for sale as there's 0 competition out there now with them an none for sale bar 2 greys active's in dublin for ages.

That's the new Dacia Duster, go to 11:20 on the video and watch. Impressive that a car costing 20k less than the Peugeot has this (4 cameras that can be watched at any time) and annoying at the same time because the 5008 doesn't.

Will you get a new Duster for €10k?! Highly doubt that... More like €17k...

Comparing the two on the high spec, one is 22k and the other is 43k for a gt-line, that's what I mean with the 20k difference.

Cayenne costs north of €100k, but Duster is still a better car ;)

I am not following. I just made a comparison between two cars with a 20k difference and the cheaper has a very cool feature that the 5008 should have had as well.

I am in a slightly different market but the roll out has been similar with 1 model if you are lucky in each dealer. So I had to do some leg work to test various models through 3 different dealers and told them so. Low and behold they have each managed to come up with 4K discounts plus service plans etc if I order now. Seems there is always a deal to be done and you might be able to use the lack of vehicles to test to your advantage!

I don't seem to be getting anything off the cost price of the car, just getting quotes for the allure and GT line with no other extras, up to 4250 now on the trade in under scrappage though.

I had 3 with the oldest just gone 3 years when I first got my current 5008 and managed a maxi cosi cabriolet and Family Fix base, a maxi cosi Pearl and Family Fix base and a maxi cosi priori and all fitted in no bother

Always good to read comparison reviews although this was a bit light on detail of handling and engines. Good that they finally noticed the 3 seats versus the others which many reviews don’t. Note they say don’t expect a discount but I have finally ordered and managed around 5k discount which I am pretty pleased about and that’s before any trade in.

How did you manage a 5k discount?

Well you won't get it just by asking a dealer. Mine was quite a drawn out affair having to test different models at various dealerships due to lack of availability. But I used that to my advantage as I was in the phone quite regularly seeing what was available and what my situation was. You end up building quite a rapport and that's before you even get to discussing prices. Finally when I was ready to commit I threw them some figures you can get buying on the internet but agreed with them that it is much better to buy from a dealer having built a personal relationship. But it puts thoughts into their mind that you might do that. Combined with that they knew I had visited with a number of dealers I asked them each for their best price on the basis that I would buy by month end. Some dealers had also told me they had lots of interest but that people weren't necessarily committing which gives you a bit of extra knowledge over which dealers were more likely to discount to get you to sign. After a bit more tooing and frooing and telling dealers what my best quote was I got some even better ones at the deadline. Since I was paying in cold hard cash and not finance that may have had something to do with it. I would not consider myself a great haggler but I told them all I had no option to do it this way because of the way the role out happened what with such limited stock. Hope this helps.

You wont get both. You'll either get a 4-5K discount or on a Trade-in, an inflated price by 4-5K

Or perhaps in the region of 2.5 either side. Just using the 5K as an example!

Probably right but our trade in is only worth a couple of k so will sell likely sell privately.

Anyone know what the current lead times are on these. I'll be going for the 1.2 petrol

How does a 1.2L engine manage with 7 people? Seems like a big car with a lot of people and a small engine.

This review suggest that the cat would struggle with a full load https://youtu.be/csrhjLsAX4E

Guess which one is the no1.

How often will you need to carry 7 adults? If it's every second moon I wouldn't worry about it, if it's a daily thing then it's probably not going to cut it.

Dealer is pushing to sell diesel over petrol at the same price, my mileage will be 10,000km per year. Is there any benefit to having the diesel over the petrol 1.2 v 1.6? Does anyone know how different they are to drive?

    According to that German Real MPG site I think the average Litres/100km are something like the following (from memory);
    1.6 Diesel - 5.9L
    1.2 Petrol - 7.5L
    1.6 Petrol - 7.9L

From my experieince with the Dealers they have no issue selling you a 1.2 in certain trims. There is a bit of a lead time though. The 1.6 HDI can be got fastest and that suits the Dealer (right now). Most dealers seemed a little reluctant to me to sell the 1.6 Petrol, and most cited resale value will be worst than the other two, others stated other reasons like MPG etc.
But of course that might change. It could be aurgued also that Petrol is not the solution to the perceived negative Diesel image.
The 1.2 might seem attractive to those doing lower mileage and IMO that should be the engine of choice here. Both 1.6 are pretty much the exact same price, so you must weigh up your options on that one, as both are very different engines with differing performance characteristics, i.e. 120 v 165 BHP etc..

With the recent PSA/GM dispute, I realised why the dealers still keep pushing diesels so much: the manufacturers have average CO2 targets to meet.

And diesels still have lower CO2 emission...

Yep, correct and right, and I realise there are other issues, but I think that point is lost amongst the hysteria!
