Looking to get a Saorview / FTA combo box, something a lot better than my current Revez Combo HD (which has thankfully just died). Rough requirements:

Seamless Saorview / FTA channel switching, single channel list.
At least one sat tuner, doesn't necessarily need twin sat feeds (currently only have one sat cable).
    Full 7-day EPG.
Reliable PVR features, ideally internal HDD.
The minimum of ongoing maintenance. Happy to do setup, but don't want to debug something every week.
RTE player access would be a big bonus.
Not using Kodi yet, but probably useful to have.

From all the useful posts here and on Terrestrial, a decent Enigma2 box looks like it would do the majority of these. Looking at the Edision OS Mega (149GBP from World of Satellite) or the Formuler F1 (89GBP including the T2 tuner), any comments on how these compare? Not concerned about the price difference, more about overall performance and reliability. Is there anything else I should be looking at? Thanks.

My experience of the Formuler F1 triple is that it equals my other high-end Vu+ box in performance and reliability. It is rock solid using openATV. Channel switching is instantaneous. You can build your own favourites list(s) with any mix of Saorview and satellite.
AFAIK there is an issue with RTÉ player on all enigma images at the moment. Other may confirm this. Don't know about Kodi, never had the need for it as enigma does all the same functions.

Wow the Formuler F1 is some steal at that price ,£89 .
That is a crazy price for a triple tuner with that spec.

I used to have a Technomate Nano 3T and I'm pretty sure the Formuler F1 is the same receiver ,just rebadged.
I couldnt fault it as a receiver ,only reason I sold it was becaue the Mips cpu picture quality was worse than that of the Alien 2 I previously had.

To follow up on this, and for the benefit of those looking for something similar, I went for the Formuler F1 and (partially) set it up over the weekend. For background, I used Sky+ HD up to about 2 years ago, then the Revez combo box and my TV's Saorview tuner in the meantime. Moderately tech-savvy but with no Linux or Enigma2 background.

    What's good:
Perfect Saorview and FTA integration in the EPG, full 7-day coverage. Using the OpenATV image on the box and the user experience is very good, at least the equal of Sky+ for basic functions and miles better than the cheaper box I had. Really customisable, given the time you can set it up however you like. Solid and reliable so far, only 2 days old though!

    What's bad:
Steep learning curve, if there's a beginners' guide to this I couldn't find it. Still don't understand the various EPG setup options, hit and hope to change many of the settings. I wasn't expecting plug and play, but was surprised by the lack of an overall setup guide.

    Still to do:
Setup HDD (external) for PVR. Have a play with Kodi and picons etc.

Overall I'm very pleased so far, and the box is a steal. Well worth giving it a go if you're in the market.

Just wondering if anyone else has any experience /opinions on this. I ordered an Edison OS mega 2 nights ago and then saw the other thread raving about the Formuler F1 (d'oh!). The specs appear similar. Is there much difference quality / stability-wise?
