Baby boy finally arrived on Tuesday exactly 12 days late and 9 lbs.. trying to breast feed at moment is anyone else trying?

Quinevere congrats! Not breastfeeding yet but will be hopefully in next week or so! How's it going? Are you getting good help/support with it? That's crucial.

Best of luck littlebsci, that's a serious change of plan, hope it goes well.

Quinevere congrats on your boy! I'm breastfeeding, going ok so far. Bit sore but manageable. How are you getting on?

Thanks folks!! Definitely not the plan but feeling ok about it, a little anxious naturally but overall ok. My crazy little way of looking at things has me happier with this than the option of induction which could have lead to cord prolapse and then an emergency section!

    Congratulations Quinevere, that's lovely news!

Bed of luck this evening littlebsci, will be thinking of you!

Congratulations blackbird and Quinevere, wonderful news.

Can't believe little lady is a week old tomorrow, time is flying by already.

Breastfeeding going ok here, was finding it quite painful but that seems to have passed now thankfully!

Hope everything is going well littlebsci.

Back in hospital with high bp, sent in by gp. Feeling kind of zen about it now after of course crying earlier, really hoped I'd escape pre eclampsia and/or section this time but doubt it now.

I am officially a mammy! My beautiful daughter was born yesterday afternoon shortly after 4pm. She is perfectly average in size but was surrounded by quite a large amount of fluid so the section was probably still the best option. Scan that suggested she was a whopper was out by 17%!

The whole team carrying out the section were wonderful as I got very nervous when I got to theatre but they did everything in their power to put me at ease! Definitely put my hypnobirthing breathing into practice to calm myself as I was getting the spinal block, great to get use out of it!

We're absolutely besotted with her and although I sense the recovery is going to be hard enough I wouldn't change how she came into the world for anything.

Hope you're all well, can't wait to hear news of your little ones!! Spottybananas, how's everything with your BP?

Congrats littlebsci! Bp is aactually fine but I'm still in here, had a sweep this morning but nothing happening yet anyway. Plan at the moment is another sweep Tuesday if this one does nothing and if that does nothing a section at 40 weeks which is 7 days away.

Had baby last Tuesday too . 7 llbs 9 oz . OMG birth !!! Too late for epi by time got to hospital. So natural , no pain relief for 14 hours, in end spinal tap to get out with forceps as she was back to back. So stitches galore, sore !! They RE infected now in hospital again today. On antibiotics now, breastfeeding is so hard... but I'll keep it up... beautiful baby girl Clara though .. congrats all

Cillian didn’t have a dirty/wet nappy for over 24 hours and was still hungry and I couldn’t express anything so the nurses told me to try supplementing tried sma first he wouldn’t go near it kept moving his mouth and then aptamil he took to that better.. had one night of cluster feeding- have you had much spit up?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 117 ✭✭ruahead

Yeah a bit after most feeds, Clara cluster feeding last 2 or 3 nights ... I'm using sma . 1 or 2 bottles a night. Prefer not to but they kept her sleeping for longer than 50 mins. I miss sleep :-)

Baby boy born by section today. Had sweep at weekend, waters broke and pains followed soon after. Pains continued well for 8 hours but then slowed down, here you have to come in as soon as waters break which I think ruined my progress. Eventually waters had been gone 36 hours, they don't induce here after csection so a second was my only option. Gutted about that to be honest BUT it was a very positive experience in itself. I felt very involved in all steps as they explained everything, lowered the sheet for us to see him being born, skin to skin in theatre and he latched on in recovery and fed for 1.5 hours straight away!

Delighted it's all over, staff have been fantastic, he's snuggled up here in the crook of my arm where the midwife assures me he'll be staying for the night. His big brother is very impressed with him, kissing and cuddling him every chance he got :)

Don't be hard on yourself!I would see nothing wrong with a bottle at 9pm or maybe 12.Daddy can give the bottle, and you can get a stretch of sleep. You have to survive too, and it's a marathon, not a sprint :-)

    Congratulations Ruahead and Spottybananas!!!

Fair play Ruahead for managing within pain relief!! And Spottybananas I'm really glad you're can describe your section as a position experience, makes all the difference!.

All going well here. Have taken it very easy since I came home, stayed another two full days in bed and only ventured downstairs on Thursday evening so I'm hoping that'll stand to me recovery wise. Baby is feeding incredibly well, loves the breast and is back above birth weight so I'm delighted not to be having problems with that at the moment. The nights are killers, even the sleepless nights towards the end of my pregnancy didn't prepare me for the exhaustion! But sure we'll try to get into a pattern in a few weeks, right now we'll take it as it comes!!

Have definitely been caught up in the magical baby bubble all week and cannot believe she is a week old already!

Hope those of you still waiting on your little ones are keeping well!!

Congratulations Loveinapril, enjoy every minute of your little guy!

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,832 ✭✭✭spottybananas

Congrats loveinapril. If baby is otherwise healthy and it's a low level of jaundice it shouldn't stop you going home. We've woken up to a little bit of jaundice today, phn was just here and said its fine for now, just feed feed feed and get him sunlight, whereas my older son needed light treatment and formula top ups.
