    Watched "The Pledge" last night.

    Well worth a look.

Slow moving crime thriller with great cast ......Jack Nicholson, Robin Wright, Vanessa Redgrave, Sam Shephard, Harry Dean Stanton,Mickey Rourke, Benicio Del Toro and Helen Mirren.

It's a documentary style thing featuring real detectives talking about real cases.

Being filmed with real cameras by real people. It's really real.

See what happens when people stop being polite, and start getting real.

    Everybody Wants Some!!

Hmmm, was looking forward to this, but largely disappointing. Felt so fake and forced. More like a spoof of the genre rather than a Dazed and Confused update. Watchable, but hard to recommend.

Finished S2 of stranger things, and not a patch on season 1,it was like a different show altogether just with same characters

Real Detective is like those forensic/crime shows on Discovery. Shot and acted certain way, probably how producers think police talk 'keep me in the loop', etc. It's not too bad, but a true crime podcast might be more worthy of your time.

I watched season 1 and really liked it but it’s like I can’t motivate myself to watch season 2, I’ve watched half of the first episode, in just end up watching it for the sake of watching it as I’m running out of things to watch.

Started watching Alias Grace but not sure about it.

Been thinking about giving iZombie another go. I watched about 4 or 5 episodes when it first started but I gave it up because it was a complete sausage fest. Does that change at any point, is it worth trying it again?

I actually think the third season was the best of the lot.

iZombie is a sausage fest? It has some strong female characters in lead roles! But it gets so much better. Honestly, give it a try again. It's a complete joy to watch.

The last thing I would have called iZombie was a sausage fest.

I would have called it quiet a Feminist show with badass Zombie Liv.

Also it a good fun show perfect light entertainment.

As I said, I only watched the first 5 or so episodes but yeah, Liv was the only female character in them. There was her, her ex, her lab pal, the "bad" guy, and her police partner. There was a female roommate but she didn't have anything to do.

Keep watching; the female roommate grows in importance when certain plot threads come into focus, and in a general sense the show really matures beyond the broad comic stylings of those first few episodes.

It never quite abandons the whole 'personality of the week' gimmick of the show, and the comedy mined from all that entails, but the characters grow and develop in a very engaging way within all that; and while yes, there aren't that many female characters, the male ones are worth sticking with. Blane & Major develop a lot of layers that bely the shallow beginnings...

Do you impose gender quotas on the programmes you watch? Does it determine what will be good quality for you?

I was watching that Waiting for Godot last. Christ almighty, what a sausage fest!!!

No, I don't. I wouldn't have a lot of options to watch if I did.
It just really stood out to me on the first few eps of this show that everyone she was interacting with were men, to the point where it became almost ridiculous and took me out of the episodes.

The last thing I would have called iZombie was a sausage fest.

I would have called it quiet a Feminist show with badass Zombie Liv.

As I said it was the fact that for the 5 or so episodes I watched she barely interacted with another woman. She would go from talking to her ex to talking to the police guy to talking to her lab pal to talking to the bad guy to talking to her ex to talking to her lab pal to talking to the bad guy etc. etc. etc.

I didn't have a problem with any of the male characters in themselves, it just seemed really glaringly obvious that there were no other women on the show.

I actually read an interesting article about how Stranger Things kept it's 4 female characters completely separate for 99% of season 2 and how it's a habit a lot of genre TV/films have. Even shows that have multiple female leads rarely let them interact. But that's a conversation for another thread. I just wanted to know if it was worth giving another shot. Seemingly it is. So I will.

This isn't an issue in iZombie once it gets going. However, if you want strong female characters and haven't watched it already, check out 'Wynonna Earp' which definitely meets your criteria.
