Was it part of Conor's 'megamix' during when the feck. Think it was a year from the 80s this Morning?

Could have been, it was about 8.40, but scritti politti, on a "Rock Station" although, as is being mentioned, it's relaxing that a bit.

They played pop-tastic Thriller yesterday, 'for the day that's in it' and I heard 'baby can I hold you' by rock goddess, Tracey Chapman this morning.

It's identity is just so messed up I feel.

Conor suggested "When The Lights Go Out" by Five on Jukebox Hero this morning! Common sense prevailed and Animal by Def Leppard was played. Might as well just merge Nova with 4FM at this stage.

Bleeding Maroon 5 on yesterday! I was going to complain about the Kirsty McColl song they seemed to have on repeat recently but it’s in a masterpiece compared to Maroon 5

This is water. Inspiring speech by David Foster Wallace https://youtu.be/DCbGM4mqEVw?si=GS5uDvegp6Er1EOG

I heard her on Nova a while back. Don't I make a good point about the band Ace, Nova play his other bands Squeeze and Mike & the Mechanics, but Sunshine played Ace but Nova don't have their song. It's a pity, it's a very Nova friendly tune and genuinely a great song.

There is a huge crossover of songs between nova, sunshine and 4FM now. all coming from the one building.

Not a huge amount of difference between the three but I think it's mental that Nova don't play that Ace song.
Their new Saturday night presenter Kieran McGuinness, I've noticed, seems to play a lot of Peter Devlin-esque stuff on his show, as well as the usual Nova stuff.

Well, Sunshine and Nova mean the same thing, just that one is a far more extreme version. So, that explains that at least :pac:

Sinead O C - Nothing compares to you, on this morning.
Surely a better song could be played from the year in question??
Have to agree with the above. It's all just becoming a blur with 4fm and sunshine, at least for the mainstream spots like the morning show.
Some of the more niche slots are still true to their choice.

The changes in music policy in recent months are gone beyond a joke. I heard what can only be described as dance music last Friday - I’ve switched off and so have most of my friends . Incidentally has the word rock disappeared from branding ? Shame Nova - you had a wonderful product -

Only listen for Pat James, John Clarke, Tony Ainscough and Davin O'Callaghan. The rest have gone to the dogs - nothing but pop. Now have Planet Rock on during the day. It's like what Nova used to be, but with a hell of a lot more rock.

Well done Brannigan - you've destroyed a great station.

What about Peter Devlin? Or is alternative music not your thing?

And yes I agree that Nova have gone too soft. Unfortunately the business model will need to be amended if a classic rock FM station in Ireland is going to be feasible.

That No Roots song is played a lot. It's not a rock song and I'd even call it a dance song. Definitely not a 'Nova' song.

Don't pick up the phone, y'know he's only callin' 'cause he's drunk and alone. :-)

Peter Devlin is very passionate about his music and does a great show but most of the alt scene isn't for me. Same as Locals Only - lots of passion there as well.

How does " Thunder " qualify as Rock??

Seriously disappointed in Nova these days.

Probably because the band play instrumenfs that a typical rock band do.

Can't believe Nova are playing that "one, don't pick up the phone" song (I'm assuming that's the "no roots" song you guys are referring to). If I wanted to hear it, I'd listen to 2FM!

Pity they don't play this 'don't touch that phone' song instead...from the ORIGINAL NOVA

Jesus. You're talking about "New Rules" by Dua Lipa. A completely different song.

You're imagining things to get annoyed about on a station you don't listen to.

    Bizarre.

I would call it pop rock. It is certainly more rocky than Jack Johnson.

I would call it pop rock.

Thought I'd just fix that for you. Could also exchange pop with the word sh1te - still shouldn't be on Nova!
