Works perfectly and can really give the phone a power boost if you are just doing a short(ish) journey.

For reasons I won't bore you with I tend to use a retractable micro USB cable with a USB C adaptor to charge the phone on long journeys and I couldn't believe it when I saw the phone actually increase battery % whilst on charge despite using GPS and podcasts through the car audio system via Bluetooth. My old OPO used to burn battery on GPS even whilst charging.

I charge mine from usb on my cars head unit while using android auto. Charges pretty quickly. In fact I hardly charge at home any more. Between morning and evening commute nearly keeps it charged.

Re the 5t. Pretty much same performance in different form factor. I'm not convinced the finger print scanner on back is that useful. For one you can't unlock phone unless you lift off desk. The screen has a marginal bump in resolution and bit bigger but I'm not going to upgrade my 5.

The OnePlus 5T Will Launch On November 16th According To Leaked, showing this ‘Amazon Exclusive’ Image, however I would think that's for India more so as Amazon have been Oneplus's launch partner over there. We will still have the buy it direct option from OnePlus directly.

The winge bagging over headphone jacks has to be the single most exhausting aspect of all things Android at the moment.

I bought the fast charger for my car yesterday. I'll be on the road a lot over the next few weeks and I listen to a lot of podcasts when I'm driving so hopefully it was a good purchase. Any feedback from anyone?

Car charger is fantastic, I also bought another one for the office, I haven't charged my phone at home since I got it.

It's exhausting, in that there's not a single good reason we should have to be talking about it in the first place.

In fairness if you just complaining about the audio jack been missing just because you'll have to carry around a dongle then I agree it is a somewhat pointless argument, however if you're an audiophile or at least appreciate good audio and that's buying factor to you as much as the good screen is buying factor to some then it's a completely different kettle of fish.

The USB dongle they give you instead would have a really poor DAC in comparison to the built-in ones, plus bluetooth audio solutions, again to audiophile, are somewhat lacking and are no substitute for good built in one..

Oneplus always had a really powerful DACs in there phones, stronger than most other phone even by today's standards, better than most Samsungs and googles pixels probably rivaled only by LG v series.

By them including the dongle in the box you can say goodbye to all that heritage they built up about having top notch audio for those that love it.

I can mostly take it or leave it but given the choice I would prefer a built-in Jack if only because I don't lose the damn dongle...

The DAC in the one plus 5 is the onboard Snapdragon offering. It's pretty poor in my opinion. That's why I use a dragonfly red usb DAC with my 5.. amazing difference

I've not used the OP5 so I wouldn't know but certainly from the oneplus one to the oneplus 3 the DACs have always been amazing, able to drive high impedance headphones with ease.
Can't say I'm a fan of using another device to amplify what should already be in the phone... But anyway, If people want to know more I Would suggest they look for the 'real audio reviews' on the pocketnow's YouTube channel.

Just to explain my position a bit. I have a U11 and there are usb c headphones included with the phone that are genuinely excellent. They also included a dongle and iv used it a few times with bose ae2's that I would've previously regarded as descent but I default to the usonics now.

My only criticism of the transition to usb c would be with the pixel 2, which only gives you a dongle, no bundled usb c headphones, now that's BS.

The newest Pixel phones have no bundled headphones which would be annoying considering the price of those phones.

    On topic with thread:

For some strange reason I have got notion to buy a new phone which is pretty handy considering the 5T is supposedly to be released next month.

Anyone else getting random reboots with the one plus 5?

I'm not rooted so I don't what's causing the issue. Is there any android log I can look at to see what's causing the issue?

Quick question, would people recommend these phones and one plus overall?

Thinking about changing things up in the new year, might get out of a contract and go on a sim only plan. Something like this:

    Anyone else doing something similar?

Id recommend them over other Android phones unless youve the money for a Pixel (Which has its own issues too). Good value for what you pay and they get updated regularly. The cameras are poor in my experience with their phones, Ive had the OPO, OP2 and OP3.

Also, youre in a OnePlus thread full of OnePlus owners so...

I will echo this as well. I've had OnePlus phones since the OPO, before that I was always Samsung S line and Note but the price swayed me over especially for the OPO. And yes I do know the price is steadily rising with these phones but the value is till there though compared to other high end android phones that keep coming to the market.

The cameras on these are actually decent tbh but yes they would not be as good as the likes of Samsung flagships or even the new pixel(but I cannot comment on how good the pixel camera is as I never held one in hand)

You can go into Developer Options (click 7 times on "build number" in "about phone" if not visible) and enable USB debugging. Once that's enabled you then connect phone over usb to and you can use adb (part of Android SDK platform tools - Google how to install) to connect to phone. 'adb logcat -v time' will give you log output with timestamps.

Mostly had Samsung Galaxys before this with one Xperia Z5 and one VF Smart Ultra 6. Aside from the lack of a MicroSd slot, the only thing I'd find disappointing is the camera. It's not terrible and is capable of some good shots but image processing in normal modes could certainly be better, especially in low light conditions with lighter skin tones that we have about these parts. Panorama mode is unusable on stock camera. Have to use alternative software solutions to get good results there. Good Fast phones though. Feels great in the hand and seems to be of good build quality. Value good compared to other flagships. Jelly scroll issue present but not really an issue in my book - might be different if you're too OCD though! Overall very happy but wish they'd do a bit more with camera software to bring it in line with Samsungs. For what it's worth, Samsung lost me when they didn't bother updating the S3 to KitKat. Utterly lame on their part and the bloat of TouchWiz was the main cause. Little bloat on OP5!

Bear in mind that logcat gets wiped upon phone reboot, so you would have to be connected to your PC and catch a reboot as it happens.

Another method is to pull a file called last_kmsg from your device after a crash/reboot, but I think you need to be rooted to access that file.

Most random reboots aren't actually random, they're set off by something that you're doing at the time. See if you can figure out how to make the phone go into the reboot, or think about when the problem started, and settings you might have changed on the phone at that time.

It usually happens when the phone is in my pocket, I tend to install a lot of apps so it can be hard to pin point the offender.
I have the fingerprint lock activated and also the pin so I don't think I'm accidently hitting reboot in my pocket.

Best thing to do is just wipe the phone and start fresh as there is nothing else you can do to fix it.

I always do it to my phone if it starts acting up. It doesn't happen that often though so no big deal maybe once a year sometimes never depending on the phone. I always backup my sms' and pictures and maybe some other files I have on there.
