Wow. Being raped is possibly one of the most horrific things that can happen to anyone. To compare that then to the temporary election of someone you don't like is just so abhorrantly ignorant- she not only compared it but said it's worse!

With every passing day more women are coming forward, each with the same story of Harvey's modus operandi; gets into a bathrobe, asks the woman for a massage, attempts or succeeds in oral sexual assault and sometimes full blown rape. How many women have to come forward before this guy is arrested?

It really demonstrates how overly deferential they are to powerful people. Even ones recently toppled from their plinth. My guess is that they are holding off to see if he's really fallen from grace before pressing charges. Kinda like hyenas circling but waiting until the injured prey is absolutely dead and no threat to them before getting closer.

It also shows that even when someone's reputation is in utter tatters, when he's been exposed fully for what he is and his actions going back decades, the remnants of his untouchable persona are still lingering. At the height of his power he was no match for a starlet starting out.

Good question. America with its 50 states is very fragmented in terms of justice. And law agencies also seem deferential to the likes of Weinstein who after all had political contacts and cover. He's hiding out in "therapy" but he should be in a police station being interviewed.

No... You can see I bolded Wibbs sentence about what it takes for HW to be arrested. My comment was in direct response to the (non) arrest.

I'm talking about the LAPD. They are loath to press charges until they are sure HW is no threat whatsoever. Remember this is the guy that had District Attorenys in his pocket and got charges in New York dropped*. Nobody is going to go for an arrest when an ambitious attorney who wants to run for political office will get them fired. That's what I meant.

*The DA that dropped the sexual assault charges against HW ran for political office and got a nice cash donation for his campaign off HW for his 'reward'

There's a difference between a sex addict who needs treatment and a violent criminal sexual predator like Weinstein who should be in court and/or jail. Its time he was dragged out of his treatment and made to answer for these allegations.

If Weinstein was a black guy committing these crimes on the streets, he'd be locked up for life, no questions asked.

Just one more way America is divided between rich and poor, those with political influence and those without.

If it was a one off incident, were there might have been a grey area, but my god the list of women reporting this grows by the day. If this guy doesn't get gaol time over his decades long stream of sexual abuse of dozens of women then I dunno what to think.

You have to consider the age most of the women were at, including Angelina Jolie, when he'd try it on with them, the level their careers were at and the level his career was at. From most of the women's stories, they tried to get out without causing any hassle or offence.

He chased women home. He tried to force them into his hotel room against their will. He forced himself on them without their consent. He is alleged to have raped several.

In all respects he was a wild, violent sexual predator who gave women no choice. There was cases of manipulation and pressure to do as he asked, but there was also many cases of violent sexual assault where the women repeatedly said no to his advances.

He manipulated them into situations under false pretenses. He had female staff bring the women to his hotel room to put them at ease that there's another woman there, under the guise of having a meeting to discuss film projects, then had her leave, meaning the actresses were now alone with him in his hotel room.

Yes, he was very much in control of himself and the situation. But he did "go after them" in the sense that he chose, arranged and manipulated the women into these situations with him in order to coerce and pressure them into having sex with him. They did "get out" in the sense that they left despite his intense pressure and veiled threats (as is evident by the recorded tape of him pressuring the woman to come into the bathroom and watch him shower. Not exactly a "You don't want to watch me shower? Okay then, you may leave" situation).

And of course, there are now numerous stories where women did not "get out" and were raped or assaulted.

He did "go after" women. He may not have been prowling the streets at night in a hoodie and pulling them into bushes, but when he saw young actresses he liked or saw a chance to get them into his room and try to manipulate them into sex, he did so on numerous occasions.

In fairness, the Oscars have a reputation for all those things. The representation of minorities in Oscar nominations is glaring. Its nearly always white men or white women up for virtually all nominations.
But that is more representative of a wider problem in Hollywood.
The Oscars are about Hollywood giving itself a pat on the back and saying everything is ok. The more Oscars the Weinstein company won, the more credibility he got and the more young women were forced to work with him. Clearly everything isn't ok and the Oscars are part of the rot.
