    I wouldn't consider it inappropriate to tell a woman that she has a nice dress. Or do you only consider it inappropriate if a man tells a woman that she has a nice dress? Oh wait, then that of itself would be sexist.

    And I wouldn't consider sweetheart to be an offensive term either. It's a pretty benign term. See below.

    sweetheart
    ˈswiːthɑːt/
    noun
    noun: sweetheart; plural noun: sweethearts
    1. a person with whom someone is having a romantic relationship.
      "the pair were childhood sweethearts"
      synonyms:girlfriend, boyfriend, lover, beloved, love, significant other, darling, true love, woman friend, man friend, lady friend, lady love, beau, loved one, suitor, admirer, paramour, inamorato, inamorata; Moreinformalsteady, flame, WAGs (wives and girlfriends);
      informalboyf, girlf;
      literaryswain;
      datedfollower
      "my high-school sweetheart"
      • used as a term of endearment or affectionate form of address.
        "don't worry, sweetheart, I've got it all worked out"
        synonyms:darling, dear, dearest, love, beloved, dear one, sweet; Moreinformalhoney, sweetie, sugar, baby, babe, doll, poppet;
        archaicsweeting
        "you look lovely, sweetheart"
      • a particularly lovable or pleasing person or thing.
        "he is an absolute sweetheart"

    If complimenting someone in an innocent, well meaning way is casual sexism, then I suppose I'm guilty.

    Same.

    Apart from the Robert Sheehan bit:D

    Misfits that's the one, she was drop dead gorgeous in it, haven't really seen her in much else.

    Striking I'd say moreso than beautiful, I can see how she'd be a successful model - but you don't think she looks just a little bit like an alien, no?

    She's in Scrotal Recall/Lovesick which is well worth a watch.

    I always found Kate Winslet to be a classy looking lady and like a fine wine she has matured gracefully over the years imo:

    You're better off not listening to them sometimes , just appreciate their aesthetics.
