Got it in Galway after seeing it advertised on a Facebook page. Paid 650, with 20 back for luck and found about 10 euro in it while cleaning it out - so just the car alone worked out at 620. I can spend money on it and still stay well within the Bangernomics budget :D Bodywork is rough though, along with the bits I listed, so price reflected condition to be fair. I've already replaced all the bulbs in the rear lamps along with all the bulbs in the speedo display.

As for reliability - I've read that injectors can cause issues, DMF like all diesels, but not a whole lot else stands out that wouldn't wear out on any other car.

There are great bargains to be had on some of the facebook adds.
    Best of luck with it.

    Hi,

Lovely car. Where did you buy it from and how much roughly did you pay ?
I have always liked the diesel mondos. What are they like reliability wise ?
Jesus my heart would sink if i had to look at or sit into that drivers seat every day...fair play to you 😑

    Decent Corolla strata 3 door.

Back bumper has obviously been painted and seats could do with a wash but still a nice car for the money.

I reckon you could drive that car for 12 months and get your money back on it.

I was thinking that myself and a dealer too. Maybe he knows something we don't. It could be a genuine bargain but at the end of the day they are out to make a profit, so who knows.

Has to be a catch..?? Unbelievable value if it's running properly.

Good value if it's running at all

Catch is the Accord has no NCT. Would have been a great buy if the car had NCT until 01/19 as claimed alright.

@Colm - you should know better than to believe dodgy car salesmen :pac:

None of you check the NCT? What's this thread come down too these days? :p

Is it possible it is not yet on the system?
Does it go on immediately or does it take a couple of days to go up?

I am asking because I have no idea ;)

Enter the reg on the NCT site and you will find out ;)

In this case the car is actually booked in for a new test, but the certificate expired almost a year ago. A savvy buyer will wait, until the car (hopefully) passes the test, and then jump in and offer the asking price. Even though the car has been out of test for a long time, testing it now will give a 01/19 cert.

My guess is though that the price will be bumped up should the car pass...

    Duh!
I had looked but passed that info. :(
It didn't register with me that it was almost a year overdue!
    Thanks.

'01 Alfa Romeo 156 1.8, NCT 05/18, taxed, claimed 1 owner from new until a few months ago, asking €999

Looks very original, guaranteed future classic. I have no doubt this car will go up in value. Very tempted myself, but the wife would divorce me :p

That 156 must have been registered late.
In 01 they already had a different key, black and flip down.
Bit surprised that the coolant temp guage doesn't show max temp of 130.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 59,584 ✭✭✭✭unkel

There are two types of clusters. The ones that have the coolant temp gauge on the right of the cluster (and the fuel on the left) have the 130, the ones (like this one) that have the coolant temp gauge on the left and the fuel on the right don't have the 130

07, 1 years test, smart looking car for €1700 I think

Smart was the first word that came to my mind too. Last of the reliabe petrol Subarus of old eh, before the country (and Subaru) went to sh1ts with diesels.

    over a years test

    Except there's only 2 weeks test :p

Would make a good bangernomics car for that money if it did have a long test though. They've aged well and the petrols can take the mileage.

It's a weird spec, as it has the side bags in the seats and rear electrics with the black dials yet hasn't colour coded mirrors...
