Stair gate help

Hi.

Just wondering if anyone can recommend a stair gate for the top of the stairs. We bought a pressure mounted one but it is no good as the bannister it has to attach to is round and will not secure at all.
I’m guessing we need a wall mounted one but I am confused as to how it will attach to the awkward round spindle at the top of the stairs!

Used one of these gates to keep a strong dog penned in for a couple of years. No issue.

We'll have to do the same on our stairs, the youngest is about to start crawling.

The fact that this is screwed in means that it should be possible to get it secure enough. Though it might mean coming up with a dodgy solution where you screw a baton to the handrail to give you a flat surface to screw the gate to. Is the whole upright round or are there flat sections?

Do you have the plastic circle receiver that came with the gate?
I screwed that into the banister and the pressure gate was fine.

If the spindle is wide enough you should still be able to screw the gate to it but if it's narrow have a google for a 'y spindle'..... probably what you need!
