RSA EDT lessons time limit

    Hi

I'm wondering is there a time limit by which you can complete the 12 EDT lessons. I did a few about two years ago and I'm just getting back into it now because I had no real reason to learn to drive before, where as now I do.

Is there an expiry date on my previous lessons or will I need to start again from scratch? Bear in mind it will probably be early 2018 before I reach lesson 12.

I also heard that you have to wait six months between completing your lessons and taking the test, is this true?

    Any help appreciated.

I'm not sure about the lessons expiring.

But regards to the 6 months, this is dependent on when your Learner Permit was provisioned. Not when the 12 lessons are completed. if you finished the 12 lessons quickly, you'll have to wait for your first 6 months on the permit to complete before you can sit the test.

By the sounds of your OP,

" I did a few about two years ago and I'm just getting back into it now ,"

Your permit may have expired as it's only valid for 2 years, you've renewed it?

    Hi,

Yes I renewed it last month.

Just to clarify, the 6 month rule is as follows:

You must wait 6 months before sitting you full license test after receiving your first learner permit.

So long as you have had your learner permit for over 6 months, and completed 12 EDT lessons, you can sit the test.

OP, do you have a logbook for your lessons? If you completed EDT lessons you should have been given one. This page has info:

Ok. Thanks for clearing that up. :)

Yes I have a logbook. So the previous three lessons that I did just over two years ago are still valid then?

Mine started in late 2014 and I have my first test booked for next Thursday.

All my lessons are uploaded to RSA.ie by my instructor, and now that my test is officially booked by the RSA, I don't believe there is any "expiration".

I looked around on RSA.ie and the only mention of a time period is a 6 month wait after your first learner permit before taking a test.

Ok thanks! I had 3 in summer 2015 so hopefully I'll only have nine to do now :)
