    Close.

Alll we need now is to win our next game, get at least win and draw from the next three after that and then just win the final four games.

Haven't been this close in ages.

We need to win? We once got a World Cup quarter-final without even winning a game.

It's a game of two halves.

The trouble with Wales is that they always try to walk it in

    Ms

What a goal. That's all they needed and they got it. The best team won. Wales were never going there this year sorry Wales. Maybe in 4 years time you might get there.

    Live long and Prosper

    Peace and long life.

No seriously, backs to the wall...up against it...pulled it out of the bag..dug deep...end of the day...the boys done well...even if Martin o'neill had a bit of a strop and pulled McClean away from Tony O'Donoghue at the end of the interview...

Yes I didn't fully catch that. Was McClean suggesting that the dummy might not have been on purpose?

So ROI can get Denmark, Croatia, Portugal or Italy. Same with NI.

Dunphy showed his Martin O'Neill obituary at the end. He'll keep it on file for the playoffs.
Good to see Dunphy can laugh at himself.

I actually don't know what came before it..looked like Martin just wanted to get McClean away from O'Donoghue(they have history don't they??)-but I missed what was said...

We beat England! Lineker's goal was ruled out after the game when video evidence showed that he had used a piece of the pitch as bog roll.

Clear breech of Fifa rule 19.16

I know. I was too busy jumping around and hugging my life size statue of paul McGrath to hear what was being said.

George Hamilton did his best to put on a commentators curse.

Jim Beglin tried his best too, but George has more experience it.

There should be no seeding in playoffs except the position in the table.

Do we not have a dedicated nancyball forum?

    France have qualified.
Sweden is 2nd and 3 points ahead of the Netherlands but sweden has quite a large goal difference so realistically Sweden are in the play offs unless they lose by about 10 goals.
Only game left is in group h I think between Greece and Bosnia.

Yes but we are not allowed to post in the nancyball forum because we are just fair weather nancyballers.

Said (before the game finished) something like 'they've not lost a match at home in x years'

Its Fifa. They want the big teams at it hence the seedings. More money for them having Italy at it than say Northern Ireland.Except some dodgy decisions to favour Italy and Portugal too if they get in trouble. Fifa want Ronaldo at it. Be terrible for them if no Messi or Ronalo at it. 2 cash cows.

Not yet, they have to beat Belarus tomorrow to assure top spot. If they lose or draw and Sweden win, they'll drop into the playoffs.

Worth pointing out, France have drawn with Belarus AND Luxembourg this campaign, so while unlikely, completely possible.

Ah ok. But the Netherlands is practically out as I understand It?

There should be no seeding at all.

The original qualification draw was already seeded.
