Once or twice a week I'd head out with my friends. I get too restless otherwise. I try not to drink outside of that, as they're heavy enough sessions, but you'd get the odd work night out or gig to go to as well.

Went to pretty much every festival I could this year, so that certainly did some damage. Will try and calm things down to 1 night max a week before the Christmas season takes over again.

I just love being out and about and socialising at weekends, really. I can't see that changing much without a total loss of sanity.

I wouldn't quite be only at weekends, but I wouldn't be 4 times a week either. Most weekends (less than one a month without any drink) and an occasional drink midweek.

If I'd answered this 3 or 4 years ago - it would have been 4 times a week. If I'd answered it 7 or 8 years ago it would have been every day. But I just grew out of it.

Used to drink 3/4 nights a week. A few pints after work or at the weekend, followed by sharing a bottle of wine with my wife. I was in hospital for a good while and reckon I've had 4 pints and 3 glasses of wine since May. No taste for it at the minute

Every Fri,Sat and Sunday and 1 other night during the week, either Wed or Thurs.Reckon I consume 30 pints a week.Just go down my local, chat to the lads and watch a bit of football, never drink at home.

I'll have a few pints every 2 or 3 weekends or so. Not a big drinker but I do enjoy it when I get the chance. Pints of Murphy's with a whiskey or two in between, add in good company and you could stay put for the night.

Heavily once per week or once per fortnight. Maybe more if there happens to be many people's birthdays on or other celebrations. Its bad but I dont mind because I know therell be much less parties after college is finished, I never drink casually or for in non social setting

I never acquired the taste for it, I might have two drinks in a year. Or none.

    I drink very rarely.

Very rarely and almost never at home....but hoping to change this between now and 2018.

Gonna break habit of a lifetime and be more sociable (also seriously helped by being a lightweight so shouldn't be too much $$)

I'm making a concerted effort to cut down and considering going without in November before the Christmas period. The statistics look good but folks don't say how much they drink, I think we have a serious problem, I can remember not too long ago the advertising of alcohol at sporting events was challenged. Euro 2016 was sponsored by Budweiser. Associating sporting activities with alcohol is not a good idea in my opinion.

    Whats this we kemosabe?

Speaking for myself I have a drink when I feel like one and leave it when I don't.

I'm a binge drinker. I'd go weeks without touching a drop then go on a weekender

    alcohol is way overpriced.

I'll drink a bottle of wine or have a few Gin and Tonics every 4 to 6 weeks or so.

I get hungover way too easily as I get older, so it's just not worth drinking any more than that.

Being a lightweight saves you a bit of money alright, but its not much fun if you're out with heavy drinkers and you're completely pissed while they're only getting started, especially if you're drinking in rounds. This is the main reason why I never really got into it.

Tbf most my friends (of the few I've left :( )...would be heavy drinkers but never had any problem with me ducking outta rounds

(And tbf I'm not a messy/angry drunk...just sit there smiling away to meself)

Monthly at most. I don't go out a huge amount anymore and would rarely open a bottle of wine at home on my own.

Back in college days probably daily due to something always being on during the week nights other than standard nights out. Random gaff parties, drinking game nights, trying to fla the upstairs neighbour on a boring Wednesday night...any excuse to get loose basically.

Nowadays only at the weekend when I go out or midweek if it's a big college night out. Obviously festivals and things like that would a few days of hard drinking but they're only a few a year max.

Never understood the having a few cans or a few glasses of wine in the evenings but wouldn't look down on anyone doing it. I've always seen drinking as a energetic social thing and general entertainment vibe not a relaxing chill out thing watching the TV in front of the fire. I'd have the quiet pint every now and again but even so it'd be with people and an excuse to meet up with someone.

Once, sometimes twice a week (usually no more than 6-8 pints of craft beer in total unless it's some special occasion). Usually at home.

Usually have at least one, usually two, 'dry' weeks a month though.

Don't drink spirits or wine generally.

My drinking is completely random, Depending on the time of year. I might go on an absolute bender drink for two days straight non stop with friends on the sesh, and sometimes ill drink 4 times a week.
Then I might not drink at all for 3-4 weeks, id say I go out on a saturday once a month if even. But as I said the random sessions catch me off guard and i lose the plot, Im mid 20's

Normally get through 3 bottles of wine between Monday to Friday and a night out then on the sat night.
So you drink every night except Sunday?

Once or twice a month. Not too often and not too much.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 7,821 ✭✭✭fussyonion

Bottle of wine on a Friday night, which would take me hours and hours to drink and maybe four or five longneck bottles of Bulmers on a Saturday and that's it.

Used to down two bottles of wine on Friday AND on a Saturday and about six bottles of beer on a Sunday and three or four bottles of lager during the week before I realised I was going too far.

I've not drank for 4 weeks but plan on fixing that the weekend after this one.

    Pretty much this.

In my 20's it was any night I wanted really, well at least till mid twenties, then peppery work kicked in, then wife, kids ....

    I want to be 20 again. ;-)

Nowadays 2 or 3 nights a week does me just fine and that's normally a quiet pint or two at home or a nice whiskey.

There's some damn fine whiskeys out there.

As a general rule I only drink on days ending in Y. A wise old man taught me that, saves a fortune and not to mind the health benefits.
