I noticed these set up at the M50 bridge at ballymun this afternoon, two pointing at the road to the roundabout as you come from Ballymun, and two more pointing at northbound M50 traffic.

Did anyone else notice them, or know what they would be used for? Feeding information to a database?

I was on the bike yesterday and saw them. They are gone today. They seemed to be pointed at both the main line, and all of the entrance/exits off the roundabout. So, I guess it was a one day survey of some nature. Using ANPR might make sense if they were also set up at other locations, and were looking for more detailed trip information. Otherwise, no idea what the purpose was.

I'm fairly sure it was just a survey. They were being managed by a maintenance crew for the m50 and there's been a lot of work going on along that stretch lately.

I agree, I think its just to monitor traffic volumes
