Is this a good laptop?

    It's large enough at 15.6"s and 2.3kg. But that might not be an issue for you, you don't mention if you'll be lugging it around. Personally I can't see the point of buying a machine with a dvd drive, the vast majority of people do not use discs any longer. It's gone the way of tapes and VHS.

    But overall the spec is fine. It'll do most day to day tasks without any issue. And Asus is a brand that I would recommend. Just be aware that this is one of the lower end machines.

    What a lot of people don't realise is that the i7-7500 is basically an i5, not a true mobile i7 - it's a dual core just with a bit more extra cache, but in most tasks it makes zero difference.

    So don't buy it just because it's an 'i7' (not saying you are, but a lot of people do) - shop around and see if there are slimmer, lighter, i5's you prefer maybe. For that money you'd get a nice 14" that would be a lot lighter.

    Completely agree with this. Get a 13.3'' - if you're lugging it in and our of college you'll really appreciate the smaller size.

    But a lot of the mobile i7's are dual core. It's only when you go to the HQ/K processors that you get 4 cores. And they are more geared to gaming/heavy duty systems, well at least that's where I see them.

    Never thought buying a laptop would be so stressful !!!
