Return food products

Just wondering if new born food products can be returned. I bought box of Aptamil baby powder in boots and then realised I was supposed to get the bottles.

Had the receipt and went back but was told that they can't accept returns on baby food. The seal was not broken.

Anyone experienced this as thought it would be against sale of goods act??

The Sale of Goods act requires that goods be:

- of merchantable quality
- fit for its normal purpose, and reasonably durable
- as described, whether the description is part of the advertising or wrapping, on a label, or something said by the salesperson.

It doesn't cover change of mind or buying the wrong item by mistake.

Baby food is a hot potato for returns due to psycos in the past interfering with it. Any shop I have been in will not accept it back unless it is recalled.

This is correct unfortunately. It was either the US or Australia where baby products were injected with poisons so ever since baby products aren't allowed be refunded or exchanged.

If your area has a buy and sell or a baby page on Facebook, it might be worth selling or passing through that. I've gotten rid of nappies mine has grown out of that way.
