That's a shame. Despite it's problems, i really enjoyed it.

It was not a bad game by any stretch of imagination.

Not sure what political correctness has to do with it.

ME has always been a darling of the PC sort.

It got slated initially for being rushed out the door but if it wasn't a fundamentally mediocre game it might've recovered.

There's one bad guy here and it's not everyone else for not liking a half-arsed effort of a game.
It's EA for not bothering their hole and making an absolute balls of the management of the project.

And anyway, if the sales figures supported it they wouldn't give a ****e what Kotaku say.

Transformers is always caned in the press but they keep churning them out.

The game wasn't great either, and it had MAJOR problems in pre-release & after launch.

Even as a long-time ME fan, the game itself left me disappointed, and I wouldn't have bought the DLC either.

I can totally understand there not being any DLC for Andromeda - even though the game was clearly set up for it, with the (post end-game)
Quarian Ark message you get in the epilogue section of the game

Also, while I get the decision to can a sequel - have to imagine it was based heavily on the Andromeda implementation, I do hope that in a few years time we get another proper Mass Effect game. This game was, on a few levels, a disaster, but EA and Bioware are capable to creating a great ME game. You would have to think if/when they do go back to it they will put more effort into the Dev side of it.

I want new ME stories - either Milky Way or Andromeda based - I think the idea behind the Andromeda setting was a good one, and I think they have a quality setting for future games. They could set it further in the future with a more mature galactic empire, removed from the Ryder era.

I think Andromeda is better set for future games than the Milky Way is anyway. I hope we get to see it.

Very disappointed by this. I can see why it did get slated a bit but I ended up really enjoying it and had sank 70 hours into it by the end. Not getting a sequel with so much left up in the air is a real bummer.

Surely the flaws and backlash to the game would've been the perfect way for them to learn and make a much better sequel rather than bin it completely.

Had the same thought myself. I view Andromeda as like Mass Effecf 1, it's a good game but could be a lot better, so was hoping the Andromeda sequel would be on the level of Mass Effecf 2. Doubt we'd even get a sequel at this stage :(

Its unfortunate if there is no sequel because one of the main charms of the original trilogy was the carrying over important decisions and romances from one game to the next and this can only damage future sales of Andromeda if it is true. I've sunk a lot of hours into this game with two play-throughs and although the main storyline is a bit underwhelming the companion quests are a lot of fun.

I hope a different section of Bioware is working on Dragon Age 4- that is the last long running series I am invested in.

so, any point finishing the game with no dlc to finish up the story?

Actually really enjoyed the ME:A despite some serious flaws (performance issues mostly) but the game was clearly side-linned for their new IP which pisses me off to no end as I have very little interest in Anthem at the moment.

Skip whatever sidequests you are on, and go for the endgame.

The loyalty missions are the best part of the game so I heartily recommend him doing them too.

    BioWare boss Aaryn Flynn quits

Kind of feel bad for the guy.

Finally went back to this after a couple of months break. Headed to Kadarra. What a boring ass planet. I forgot how bad the dialogue was, I really wish I picked Fem Ryder as Male Ryder is awful. His lines and delivery make me not want to talk to people. Said I'd try take interest in my crew so I tried Cora's mission. Go to Voeld, another boring ass planet. Find something oooohhhhh plot twist, you are given 6 or so locations but only 1 is real. Yay, boring trek around a boring planet for I don't even know what. Oh year Asari ark. Now if this was for the Quarian Ark, i'd be all over that ****.

I spent about 2 hours playing it and just bored all the way through. NONE of the squad mates are interesting (to me). Just forcing my way through until I pick up a new game.

Just started a third new game plus play through there the other night. Will get into it again over the weekend. I love playing with a biotic profile. Tis always been my favourite power set since ME2. I really should change it up for this play through. I equip my biotic god with a Ghost X5, a N7 Hurricane and a Sidewinder all level 10 I think. I've the heat sink mod in both the Ghost and Hurricane. Tis brilliant with the Hurricane though.

I enjoyed the game but did find though that story wise it didn't have the same pull in as the original trilogy. Having said that now I do hope Bioware continue along the Andromeda storyline whenever they go back to the franchise as I do want to see how it all pans out.

Likewise but I do hope he didn't leave or was forced out because of the fallout from Andromeda. He came across as a decent bloke from the few interactions I've had with him on Twitter. Having said that now it'll be interesting to see how things go with Casey Hudson after coming back.

This is for sale on PSN for €35. For people who bought it, is it worth it?

I've heard so much crap about it but I did love the trilogy.

  • Registered Users Posts: 7,447 ✭✭✭Calhoun

I think so I liked it, kinda reminded me of the excitement of the first one. It's not perfect but I would play it again and if they did make story driven dlc for it I would have bought.

While allot of negative noise around the game, there was overwhelming noise that weren't really related to the game .

For that price I would say yeah. I've played about 165 hours in the single player between my first game and then the new game plus. I've also put a few hours into the multiplayer too and I'm not a big multiplayer fan.

Would it be better to get it on disc though, so it can be offloaded later?

    I would say yes.

And the fact I'm saying this shows how disappointed I was by ME:A.

I wasted holidays on you! :pac:

So, yeah, this is officially dead now, Bioware confirm that there's not going to be any further development on this.

I had bought this, but put it in my back log until they released enough patches to get it into full shape. Sad that it's going to be left essentially half finished, but at least I can play through it now, knowing that some patch or DLC is going to come along and fix it like the Citadel DLC for ME3.

Balls! The game wasn't even that bad, it was just negative press that killed this game.

Was there a season pass or anything sold to people? I imagine that DLC was in the pipeline before release.

Anyway, shame that the Mass Effect franchise is more or less dead now. Can't see it being given a reboot after the Andromeda mess.

Absolutely, some of the reaction it got online was beyond patethic and unwarranted. It was a good game.
