Best Chinese in Castlebar?

    Ocean Garden or the Oriental would be my two favourites. If there's on every to avoid I'd say New Dragon - the food isn't bad but the aftermath has been a few times so my whole family avoid it now.

    I moved back well over a year ago and it was only last month that I decided to go for a Chinese... and I like my takeaways! I just wasn't impressed with any of them on the face of it.

    However, I asked around and the Oriental came out on top. Went for it and was pleasantly surprised.

    A bit of investment wouldn't go astray though. Seeing a place looking pretty much like it had 20 odd years ago does nothing for me.

    Best Chinese is Castlebar at the moment is Golden Sea by a long-shot , their meat and chicken is good quality and I just find other take-aways bland (as far as curry's go) .

    The Lantern was by far the best but closed a couple of years ago.

    On a side note :
    I don't understand how some takeaways are charging €4 delivery? It's not a taxi service.

    I'm going to try Golden Sea, I had gave up on castlebar Chinese restaurant's as the ones I tried were contunually poor.

    When the lantern was there, that was great good!

    If your in your way home to Castlebar and passing Claremorris there is brilliant upstairs one on the castlebar road. Alison i think it is called
