She did the thing he killed the mad king for and they don't even discuss it. He makes absolutely no sense as a character anymore.
The mad king was going to obliterate Kings Landing in its entirety. Not just some cultists in a Sept with most of her enemies thrown in. There was a method there, not blind madness.

Do we know where Euron is at right now? If he was mentioned last night I missed it...

Civilians were killed in the explosion. She also killed their only remaining allies.
There is a parallel in what she did and what the mad king wanted to do and Jamie killed the mad king. His blind allegiance to Cersei when she appears as mad as anyone at this point makes no sense in his redemption arc.

The thing is the problem for Danny is the fact shes essentially using weapons of mass destruction to win the war, like anyone who uses weapons of mass destruction shes coming across as bad as its frowned upon and looks barbaric, at the moment shes holding back and only using the dragons against the army.

Using them for executions makes her look terrible and will do nothing for her.

There's only a similarity in the weapon used. There was no madness in the 'burn them all' sense. It was a ruthless pre-meditated plan to rid herself of her enemies in one fell swoop. The mad king just wanted to take everyone with him. It may not have been the cleverest plan, but she got the throne and that's hard to argue with.

I certainly don't see madness in it. Desperation, ruthlessnes and cunning definitely.

Yes, if she did it because she heard the voice of her dead father egging her on okay, otherwise she's just ruthless. Likeable, no.

What would you have her do? Release the soldiers so they could make their way to KL to pick up spears and fight her army there again? She could have demoralised them further and sent them to KL, to show she is not as cruel or ruthless as cersei but daeny is losing the war. Of course she is going to harden.

but daeny is losing the war.

Are you watching the same programme as I am ?

Executing traitors and enemies who refuse to obey is one thing, but burning them alive is another.

Where are the fools now that thought Drogon would die from a flesh wound?

So who thinks Cersei is lying about being pregnant because she thinks Jaime will side with the enemy? Of course that lie can only last so long. Unless she really is pregnant and did it just to keep Jaime. Either way it's out of selfishness and fear.

Not sure he was actually laying siege to the Rock rather than just wiping out their fleet.

I think she's lying. The prophecy said she'd have three children. Now that could still be true if she's pregnant and something happens. But she didn't seem a bit concerned when everything in that prophecy came true and that couldn't bode well for this child.

But such a lie would work well to keep Jaime in check but would have no negative effect on Euron. She went a bit ott on Jaime; accusing him of betrayal. He betrayed nobody by talking to Tyrion, he went straight to Cersei afterwards and knew nothing before they met. To me that seems as though she's unsure of him and wants to keep him under control.

The great episodes just keep coming and coming. I honestly don't give a shiny sh1t about timelines and haste of story...if it moved slower, people would be complaining about that too.
I really quite like the fact there's no filler episodes at this stage. After stuff like Dorne and the Faceless Man storylines, it's great we're moving along so briskly during the penultimate season.

That motley crew trudging off towards the White Walker army at the end was just beautiful. Shame they didn't bring along Theon for that extra bit of sheer brute force, though....

Tyrion and davos rowing to kings landing in the day time was insulting.

    Good episode besides that

Another good episode for me. Loads in it.

Producers can't win. For years people have been complaining of slow pacing, filler dragging on etc.

Now it's zipping along and people are still not happy.

For me, the previous seasons have been been scene setters and character developments for what we're seeing now.

The Game of Thrones is in full swing and has begun. Less character development (have any major new characters been introduced this season?) and on with the plot.

As for time, I don't worry about it, I just take it that it's moving along and not all scenes are shown in chronological order.

Only thing I struggle with is referencing back to items like Sansa's note to Robb Stark in Season 1. I can't remember them and need forums like this to refresh me. Do writers expect people to remember all the details?

I don't think so. I imagine in the next episode there'll be a very specific call back to the now being written that will be explained slowly and carefully. This week lots of just a hint and a tease.

I don't think so. They did it last week with Bran's "Chaos is a ladder" comment to Littlefinger and it was never explained. Lots of viewers will not have understood that.

Why were people fools to speculate that Qyburn may use the very poison he concocted to kill the Dorne girl on the dragons? Would seem rather realistic imo!

I recognised the line straight away. It's one of little fingers best exchanges with another character. Why does everything need to be explained to people.

Is it just me that doesn't like Gendry's hammer? Seems very long and unwieldy, a bit comical looking.

I believe the top 5 actors are getting 1 million apiece per episode so that's why there's fewer episodes....
TBF trying to cover 2 massive invasions of a continent (by whitewalkers and dany) in 13 episodes, alongside all the other usual machinations is a bit of a stretch

You're just making up stuff to suit your POV.

Iirc there were very little complaints from S1-4.

People rightfully complained about the huge drop off in quality in S5 (until the last 2/3 episodes).

People rightfully complained about the continued drop off in quality in S6 (first half of season at least).

And people are rightfully complaining about the ridiculous pick-up in pace and incredible inconsistencies in S7, many of which are pointed out in this thread and threads that come before them, some of which are not.

And the only counter argument seems to be along the lines of "just get on with it ffs," which quite frankly is a load of bollocks. People are entitled to point out the glaring inconsistencies and debate them on this board, it's whole f*cking point of the place.

It might be because I'm a GoT geek but I filled with joy when I saw a Baratheon with a war hammer heading off to war with a Stark (Targaryan) :D

I don't think she's lying, but like CMOTDibbler said, the prophecy from a previous season said she'd have 3 children. I think Cersei is pregnant, but I think something will happen to either her or the child which means it won't make it to birth.

Actually all the female characters are getting on my nerves lately. Big episode in store next week.

She bores me to death herself and Arya
