McStay must be one of the most open and honest managers managers out there. Maybe some would think too much so. He's almost the direct opposite to Gavin.

Sure they might as well just give Sam to Mayo now.

    9/4 Mayo 1/2 Kerry.

The biggest thing Mayo have to work on is how to deal with Donaghy.

They cannot go in with Cafferkey or one of their regular full backs on Donaghy. They need someone big and stong to mark him like Parsons,Barry Moran or Seamus O'Shea.Too many teams try and deal with him with a modern full back and it doesn't really work most of the time.

Definitely worth a bet on Mayo. Current form obviously dictating the price but the history of this Mayo team would say it's worth a gamble

Forget about Donaghy and Kerry. Mayo are looking at an all ireland final now. Time to start planning for the Dubs

no we're not, what a daft statement

From mayo's point of view it was great to see such intensity and energy, it's a long time since mayo won a big game with such a margin

That said roscommon were worse than a shambles, and mayo still had some issues up front - with some poor shot selection and at times just not being sharp enough with the final pass. In such a massacre, nobody got over 2 scores from play either.

I still think midfield is advantage Kerry and I remain convinced whether mayo can really hold out the front 3 long enough

Until today I could only see a kerry handy win, at least it'll be potentially interesting now

Probably because he was in the media himself and he seems like someone who doesn't buy into too much modern managerial bull**** in general.

Interestingly bar tyrone last year (who were ridiculously under-priced and over-rated) this mayo side haven't won a game as underdogs since dublin 2012

Mayo will surely see Kerry out on current form?
You need to get a grip.
The next step will be much tougher.

    A cute Kerry Hoor

So Mayo finally manage to put away the team that held them to a draw only a week ago, the same Mayo that were beaten in the Connacht semi final by a team that Kerry handled with ease last week, and now they are suddenly so good they can forget about Kerry and plan for the Dubs? Hmmmm.......

I think you've just latched onto a hyperbole of bullsh1t there.

Mayo should be a good match for Dublin if they meet in the final. They beat Roscommon by 22 points, Dublin could only manage a 21 point margin. And Roscommon were not taking the League seriously.

Ah, but they only won by an 11 point average (10 if you're including league) over the games played while Dublin have a 21 point average.

Wasn't basing it on that (probably Kerry lad's!) prediction in fairness, more on the reaction on social media - the Mayo4Sam crew seem to be out in force already.

The way to stop Donaghy is disrupt the players looking to feed ball into him.
If he's forced to come looking for ball, instead of having it pumped in on top of him, his effectiveness is reduced.

Easier said than done of course.

That's the end of that "rivalry" for another decade
Roscommon much the fitter alright ;)

Jaysus some of you Mayo lads are awful touchy about Mayo4Sam. You'd swear ye were embarrassed by it or something - ye should embrace it, by the law of averages, they'll have to be right eventually.

I'd suggest current form is misleading.

The likes of Higgins and Boyle haven't crossed the halfway line in previous games. Today they were up and down at pace and with frightening regularity. Their tackling and work rate was noticeably higher too. I don't know why they waited til today to produce that but they're an obvious threat to everyone when they do.

Thats true but you could say that about a large amount of quality forwards. The thing that makes Donaghy great is he can make something of a ****e ball, most other forwards aren't as good at that and once he gets the ball he overpowers most teams, he's incredibly destructive when he's on form.

As the 2014 first game showed he often only needs one to come off too

It'll be a huge conundrum for mayo no doubt about it. Put simply donaghy has absolutely destroyed mayo over the years
