Even a run ragged 330 is not cheap, and the cabin fitout to match the rest of the fleet is very much not cheap. Not would a run ragged frame be very good as a backup as it'd be likely to go tech too

It doesn't have to be on it's last legs but some smart thinking and planning might get you a good deal of a struggling airline. I'm not saying it would be cheap either but some planned bucket and spade routes on quite days will help cover the cost also with the savings from not having all the hire ins it wouldn't be to much of a cost.

They don't fit out hire ins so leave it as is. I wouldn't even put IE livery on it.

It won't. There's a global market for airframes, they're not things you do sneaky little side deals on.

A ragged 330-300 will set you back over 15m. That covers a LOT of hire ins

You aren't going to leave an aircraft sitting around with a blacked out version of the former operators livery; or a debadged interior livery - even a repaint to white and a "cheap" interior (no IFE etc) is not cheap

That's unfortunate, only DAA, DUO, LAX and GAJ operate west coast flights, losing 2 of em must have really hurt

Is Miami due to be a A332 or A333.
Also is Orlando to stay A333 during September does anyone know.

MIA is A332, don't know about MCO

EWR did an SFO rotation during the week too.

All the -200's bar EWR are setup for long haul, EWR will get there but doesn't have the crew rest

Its never been clear but the new FNG, FNH, GAJ should all be HGW versions so can get to LAX/SFO

    GAJ has the crew rest

Smart move would be to get FNG, FNH, EWR setup

Interesting, makes sense! I sat in 31G(rear bulkhead seat) on EWR a few weeks ago and was wondering where the crew rest door was. Do LAX/DUO/DAA/GAJ all have the crew rest in cargo at door 3?

EI-GAJ only off to BOS now, almost 6 hours late.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 4,385 ✭✭✭goingnowhere

LAX/DUO/DAA/GAJ all have the crew rest, as a result 4 fewer seats to allow for the access door to the module.

The module is just a cargo unit so can be removed to maximise cargo capacity

EI-GAJ was in from LAX late so quick turnaround

Hopefully tomorrow will be half normal as DUO should get back and the hire in 767 will fill in for LAX, but GAJ will be 3 hours late at least getting back home

A number of posts have just been removed to clean up after the activities of a regular re reg troll. We try to remove them as soon as we find them, but it's not always possible to instantly determine if they are valid candidates for blocking. If you've answered a post, sorry, it's easier to clean up completely rather than leave orphaned quotes in the system.

Shore, if it was easy, everybody would be doin it.😁

There's been a lot of bad luck with ground equipment, more than breakdowns.

    EI-DUO is tech in LAX
Bloody hell. That's a bad few days for them.
Heard from my other half that the TA operation is very messy at the moment.

Surprised they haven't pulled a 757 out of Shannon yet. Maybe they're full for a change.

DUO landed from LAX this afternoon after being repaired in LAX and is currently en route to LAX again

The hired in 767 was several hours late last night coming back to Dublin which didn't help, but is again off to ORD

DAA did not fly today 31 July
DUZ hasn't been seen since July 29th
LAX still out of service due damage

They're usually quite full in the Summer season.

DUZ is in the hangar getting a new flap. Threw a tyre tread on leaving MCO on Saturday. Damaged flap was too bad for a temporary repair. New flap due in today.

It looks like EI-EWR diverted to Ottawa en route to Toronto last night, anybody know what happened? It didn't get to Toronto until 90 minutes after it was due to fly back to Dublin, and didn't get back until 9:30 this morning(was due in at 5:30), hope it doesn't have too bad an effect on today's schedule, they're having a tough few weeks!

A Titan 767 reg G-POWD is currently positioning STN-DUB to operate on behalf of EI

Weather! funnily enough in a separate discussion on another forum about uncommon runway configs YYZ's 33L/R was mentioned.

A member who works at YOW said anytime the 33's are in use in YYZ, YOW gets multiple diversions as the airport cant handle operations on just the two runways. The 33's only get used when the xwind is greater than 20kts on 6/24L/R and 5/23, & with the storms in Toronto last night, the 33's were in use!

It's in an all-economy config according to Titan's website, I'd say they'll have some disgruntled business pax

Im sure business class pax would be either offered an alternative, or an economy seat with a refund.
Im sure the vast majority of business passengers would be happy to jet get to their destination and not have their flight cancelled.

You would think, but on a very delayed Toronto flight a few weeks ago when the idea of an alternate plane was mentioned I witnessed four separate groups of business passengers approach the desk and give out about how they had paid for the Aer Lingus product and wouldn’t accept anything less than, one even refused to be transferred to BA as ‘Club World is a dire experience’.
