I've put a few hours in Watch Dogs and have just finished Act 1. Far better game I think than most people give it credit for. Sure it might not be a classic but it is very solid and enjoyable imo.

Only thing that has annoyed me is the police chases at the start but after investing in some skills in that area it's not too bad at all.

The police hunting you is a pain in the arse up until you get the jamming signal upgrade, gives you some extra time to evade after you've lost them.

I had this on 360 but downloaded it anyway. Already into Act II and will have to advance the story if I want any more upgrades.
Baytin random criminals with the bat is great fun too.

Did watchdogs fall in to that peter molyneux issue, promised the world and failed to deliver

No, I don't think it was that bad. It certainly over-promised in terms of visuals from the first trailers, but it didn't really get reviewed that badly. It ended up with an 80% metacritic rating, with the user score much worse because of the user backlash (i.e. users being more sensitive to the downgrade because they think visuals are more important than the journalist reviewers.)

It didn't strike me as a vital game to get, and was happy to let it go by while other games came on sale, so to get it as a Games with Gold is a total bonus.

I have to admit though, I'm more interested in Grow Home. Yes, it's not as good on metacritic, but it's certainly a departure for Ubisoft, and I always want to reward studios that go outside their comfort zone.

So you're rewarding them by not buying it but playing their game when it's free, gotcha :p

Yeah, I had meant to pick it up when it was on sale, but missed it. Now it's Games with Gold, so I can't really say no!

Its hard to say, but I assume that developers whose games appear on GWG, get a fee dependent on how many people download or launch the game.

Offering games for free or heavily discounted can bring in more revenue than you think. It can regenerate a playerbase and new people will buy the game because their mates have it, or it can result in more dlc being bought, or more people will buy a sequel because they played the original.

Yeah, plenty of stories of games being discounted on Steam and suddenly the developer is flooded with far more sales than they ever thought their game would make.

The games that are rumoured for next month:

    AC Chronicles India
    Firewatch

    Forza Horizon 2
    Condemned

Fire watch looks excellent, so I'd be happy with that if this is accurate.

    Stolen from Reddit and here.

Probably true since another asscreed is there. Theyve given away practically every single game by now?

Firewatch is a good one. Condemned too is so underrated and still holds up today and super scary.

They've since updated to say its fake. Lord knows why anyone would bother faking it though. We should hear thew official list by tomorrow from Major Nelson and CatInABox

Are the games on gold free forever or just for that month?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 2,248 ✭✭✭Max Mafioso

Once you have downloaded them they are free forever as long as you have an active Xbox Live sub
I think, I might be wrong, the 360 will work on the 360 only without the Live sub.

You can continue to play the 360 games, even on the one, when your subscription lapses.
The one titles require an active subscription.

Condemned, what a game! Scared the absolute shout of me back in the day, wouldn't mind if that turns out to be true

The young fella has slime rancher he loves it.

    Whats Red Faction like?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 2,028 ✭✭✭d31b0y

Guerilla was better but Armageddon is not terrible. Back to tunnels instead of open world. They also have you fixing stuff rather than just blowing sh*t up.

Is Runbow (current GwG game) any good? Looks like it might be good fun multiplayer. My Gold subscription is out but might renew now if it's worth getting.
